Kingdom Hearts Mobile celebrated its first anniversary on December 15, 2009 with special events going on within the Avatar Kingdom as well as new costumes of the three main protagonists, Terra, Aqua and Ventus of the game Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, which was released less than a month later. On December 27, 2009 Square Enix released special Kingdom Hearts themed wallpapers for mobile phones to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday as well as additional wallpapers to celebrate its first anniversary.[3]
So ive recently been going into the kingdom hearts games, and i have finished kingdom hearts 1 final mix and now currently playing kingdom hearts re: chain of memory. But as i was looking at some timelines just for fun i saw some kingdom hearts games called [x] or union or dark road and others, and as i googled them, it said they were mobile games. It also said that these games are very important to the story of kingdom hearts, but as i looked into the playstore i could only find one, the dark road game. So are the other ones just out of service, and now lost media or how do i experience/watch/play the other ones? Any explanation would help
In the teaser trailer, we see someone who is presumably the game's protagonist in Scala ad Caelum, a special metropolis that those who have completed Kingdom Hearts III will recognize. The teaser showcases the RPG's combat as well, which seems like a mix between some of the mechanics in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and standard mobile action RPG gameplay. We also see some of the Disney characters in the game, including Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Simba from The Lion King, and Baymax from Big Hero 6, to name a few.
Square Enix held a 20th-anniversary event for Kingdom Hearts over the weekend and subsequently released a trailer for three games. The first trailer is for Kingdom Hearts Uχ Dark Road, which will be concluding its story this year, and the third trailer reveals Kingdom Hearts 4 is in the works, a mainline entry. These are fine announcements on their own, but the second trailer is why we're here, teasing an all-new mobile game in the franchise, known as Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link. Details are incredibly light, though it looks like an action RPG, and should be entering into closed beta testing in select regions this year.

The last time we heard anything about Kingdom Hearts Missing Link was back in January 2023, and even then the info came from the mobile game's beta testers and not Square Enix. Back then, players reported Missing Link feeling like a mix between Niantic's Pokemon Go and fellow Kingdom Hearts mobile game Unchained X, as it features character customization, GPS mode, and more.
More recently, on October 23 the official Kingdom Hearts series Twitter accounts shared an image that features a CG render of a work-in-progress Scala Ad Caelum - which fits in perfectly with the Kingdom Hearts Missing Link's Bloodborne-style artwork we saw back in late 2022. The Missing Link Japanese language account also changed its header image to a new high-quality screenshot along with the mobile game's logo, which feels suspicious...
What Square Enix is currently planning is anyone's guess, but here's hoping we finally find out more about Kingdom Hearts Missing Link (like maybe a release date?) before 2023 is up. It's probably worth keeping an eye on this mobile game, as series' director Tetsuya Nomura has already said Missing Link will have connections to Kingdom Hearts 4.
While many RPG franchises fill themselves to the brim with lore, there aren't many that go to the same level as Kingdom Hearts. Almost every installment in the series adds to its overarching story in some way, including the now-offline mobile game Kingdom Hearts Union X. While it was questionable how much a game starring the player as its protagonist could leave an impact on Sora's story, Union X ended up leaving an important mark.
Union X is anything but short. While stories in RPG franchises are often on the long side, Union X in particular featured 979 story quests by the end of the game's run. Between this length and the mobile nature of the game, many fans are likely put off from finishing it. Kingdom Hearts has been leaning into Union X as a big part of its lore since KH3, and the game offers poignant foreshadowing to the series' next arc.
One of the mobile titles in the Kingdom Hearts series, Kingdom Hearts Union X (KHUX), received its final story update back in May in Japan. In it, several loose ends that tied into other parts of the series were finally resolved, but there are still quite a few questions left up in the air, and it seems like Kingdom Hearts fans will have to wait for future games in order to get concrete answers. For the moment, here's a general overview of how Kingdom Hearts Union X's story concluded.
Given how difficult it can be to follow the lore of the series, even now that it's begun consolidating titles and releasing past Kingdom Hearts titles across new platforms such as PC, anyone who hasn't played through or watched previous KHUX story updates should probably do so before diving into its ending, which wraps up plotlines that were established much earlier on in the mobile game's life. Naturally, there will be significant spoilers up ahead.
Because Union X at its core is a cash grab. And like 99% of all mobile games this is being made with microtransactions in mind.
Not to mention a mobile game will automatically always be inferior to a console game of the same generation simply due the limitations. I mean union x might be fun and all but visually it looks pretty shitty.
Thank you for telling people off who complain about Kingdom Hearts having mobile games because I am also getting sick and tired of people complaining about it all the time. I think it's a great idea to have a couple of Kingdom Hearts games on mobile because it's more accessible to people because not a whole lot of people have a PS4.
Also on the mobile front is the upcoming Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, which has been missing in action for some time - expected by many to have released by now. It will be a new entry in the series known for its collaborative efforts between Square Enix and Disney.
Recent years have been full of flops for Square, with mobile games like Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights and Echoes of Mana closing after roughly a year each. And though lasting longer, SinoAlice Global is now closing down too, with Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light soon to follow.
Square Enix and Disney confirmed the release window in a new trailer for the mobile action-RPG. This is the first major update on Missing Link since it was revealed last year during the Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary event in April 2022.
As well as KINGDOM HEARTS IV, the team also announced a brand-new action RPG mobile game, KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link, which features an original story of its own, and the final chapter of KINGDOM HEARTS DARK ROAD for the KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ Dark Road app.
Announced on Twitter on Wednesday night, Project Xehanort is a new mobile game set in the KH universe. Little is known about what the game might be or even what the game's name will end up becoming, as "Project Xehanort" is merely a placeholder title. There is a spring 2020 release date for iOS, Amazon and Android, following in the footsteps of the first KH mobile game Union χ[Cross].
Kingdom Hearts revels in over-complicated stories and plots that weave on through multiple games. This new mobile title could give us a bit of backstory into Xehanot's transition from Keyblade master to the personification of darkness itself. Here's hoping for more Malificient and Pete interactions too, because that duo makes every game better.
SQUARE ENIX today announced that the hit mobile RPGs FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS and KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross] will have a special collaboration event, full of in-game promotions, limited-time events and more across both titles. Now through October 3, players can also earn generous in-game rewards in both titles by challenging the collaboration event boss Heartless: Large Body in FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS and by completing Stage 1 of the Big Bonus Challenge event in KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross]. New players to both titles can also participate and help earn rewards by completing the in-game tutorial in FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS and Story Quest 10 in KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross].
Square Enix announced quite a few projects at its 20th anniversary celebration event for the Kingdom Hearts franchise last year. In addition to Kingdom Hearts 4, a new mobile game in the series in the form of KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link was announced. KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link is a GPS Action RPG, and the newest KINGDOM HEARTS series entry. It was announced to have a real world component where players can fight agains the Heartless from Kingdom Hearts across a new original story. Today, a new trailer has gone live with the confirmation that KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link launches in 2024 for iOS and Android as a GPS action RPG. Closed beta sign-ups for select regions are also live now. Watch the new KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link trailer for iOS and Android below:
