Ihave never been a pillion on the Er6 its a commuter sport bike so being comfortable depends on total weight, you would need to adjust ride suspension accordingly to either soften or firm up the ride if you always have a pillion ( any bike shop can do this if you dont know how ) the seats are firm and how you ride as a pillioin can make the difference ( ie lean with the driver and not against them, dont ride with your hands behind your back you are asking for trouble if thats your style ) the Er6 is not a long distance bike by that I mean dont compare it to a cruiser . Hope that helps best try one to see, i dont know where you live but there is a good one with low km in Mackay Qld on Bike Sales ( white ) ABS. Full Open ( not LAMS )Price is excellent

Have a sit on one they can be a quick bike but spend a few hours getting to know it before you get into traffic and always remember drivers can't see you so be aware also I use Dunlop alpha13 tyres so it's good on the road but avoid sewer lids and white lines etc in cornering and the wet as they can get slippery

Gday Roxanne, due to your lack of height, I think you are going to encounter some difficulties, I think you might find it hard to push the bike around, you will have to install a lowering kit, with this in mind, you will probably still not be able to have your feet flat on the ground. I dont know what your reasoning is for not wanting to purchase a ninja 300r, I owned a ninja 250r, both are great bikes to learn the craft of motorcyling. I dont think the LAMS version of the Er6n is much quicker than the 300r due to it being restricted via the ecu. If you are thinking you can remove the restriction when you have your full licence, you might want to do some research first, here in South Australia, it is legal to remove the restriction, though it has to be approved by the dept of transport. Your next obsticle will be finding an insurance company who will insure the bike after it has been modified.

Again see if its been dropped look for unusual marks a new tank fairings etc., it should show normal wear and marks micro scratches from cleaning etc, also check if it us under finance from the current owner and unencumbered you can check that online for a few dollars.

Ask yourself is the price right ? Am i prepared to fork out for tyres and a service ie filters and oil ( allow. $700-800 at a dealer for all that if needed ) depending where you are get a quote from a Kawasaki dealer. Also Ask the dealer if knows the bike being a LAMS version it was probably bought local and he may have a history on it.

1) Is it a restricted version ER6nL or open ER6n has it got log books or a maintenance history i.e. did it go through a dealer or was it home maintenance shud be approx. every 5000 km oil filter change and the air filter is under the tank so has it had a lot of exposure to dust , the fuel type used doesnt matter a great deal the computer works out fuel/air mix but the best fuel to put in it is Shell V-power 98 )

3) How old are the tyres are they new or have they been on the bike for a few years ( rubber gets hard and doesn't grip well in the corners ) if you do need new ones look at the Alpha13 dunlop used in FX superbike races good all round tyre get a kawasaki dealer to fit them.

It may be worth spending a little more on a lower km model and reducing maintenance costs unless its been well maintained in good condition also make sure it is unencumbered ( not under finance ) and you are not taking on someone else's debt worth spending a few bucks to check.

I would have a test ride as I would think that the er6 is a very different bike to ride than the Suzuki. You will find both the riding position and the engines characteristics different to th Suzuki so a ride out on one would seem the best way to decide if the er6 is the bike for you.

hi, i am new to bike,so just a question what is different between the kawasaki er6n and er6nl? how much is hte 2012 model,i know there is a flooded in tailand so currently there is no stock in australia, so when or about what they will be imported in??

The L is for learners, it is throttle and ECU restricted. It can be unrestricted when you get your open licence, but will devalue the bike. The bikes are physically the same, I owned a ER-6NL and sold it a few months ago.

Couldn't see another person writing this but the throttle limit is insanely small. I say it just does not feel right have so little movement on the er6nl. Saw one in the shop and just had a look and felt the throttle and just went "eww no throttle no fun"
