Hi there, I have a tiddlywiki on my laptop that I make multiple changes to on an hourly basis, synced to NextCloud.

In order to reduce my bandwidth I recently followed the instructions here to extract the js core to an external file in the same directory as my wikis, saving approx 2.3MB of unessesary uploads each time I save.

However (as I anticipated!) this means I can no longer open the wiki in Quine. Is it possible to use Quine with an external js core file?

I guess my other option would be to approach the problem from the other end by reducing the frequency at which NextCloud syncs.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi - My understanding is that "tiddlywikicore" needs to be run as a server on a local machine using:

"tiddlywiki YOUR_WIKI_FOLDER --listen 'root-tiddler=$:/core/save/all-external-js' use-browser-cache=yes"

You would then access your wiki via Safari, either on the same machine or even an iPad, or iPhone.

Quine does not provide a way to "serve" your wiki in this way. You will need to run the core on a connected machine.

Chris.

This works fine for me with my TiddlyWiki file stored in my iCloud Drive Quine folder along with (eg) tiddlywikicore-5.3.8.js. You might want to check this earlier reply relating to NextCloud. There isn't an easy way to translate a relative path into an actual local file location for a number of cloud services.

Thanks Chris, I think you might be referring to the node version of TiddlyWiki which is not something I've used.

I'm just using the "standalone" html file (although with an external core it's no longer really "standalone" I guess!) and trying to access from my iPhone

Thanks anyway & best wishes,
Dan
