Derived from the Yoruba people of West Africa, Candomble was founded in Brazil as a distinct tradition in the 1830's. Join third-generation Master Drummer, Gamo Da Paz, as he teaches these cultural traditions through the provision of lecture, demonstration, and student participation.

 Move and groove to Brazilian Beats! Master Percussionist, Gamo Da Paz, instructs students to play several percussion instruments in a Brazilian drum ensemble or "bateria." Learn to play many different rhythms while having fun and drumming as a group. With continued practice, join Gamo and his group, Quimbanda Grupo Carnavalesco, in local performance venues including the annual San Francisco Carnaval.
