I see, good point. Should be corrected. I think it'll only extend letter pages a bit in the horizontal direction without changing background lines, so it should be safe to do so.

Or maybe keep that one for backward compatibility and add a new aspect ratio for the real US letter?

Btw, while playing with this a bit, I noticed that if the paper does not fill the whole screen, you can write outside of the paper. Is this normal?

Yes, that was one design decision. You can write outside of the paper and everything is saved. Since you can change the aspect ratio later its always possible to end up with text outside the margins.
