The recently published graphic novel, Undesirables: A Holocaust Journey to North Africa (Stanford University Press, 2023), chronicles the lesser-known events surrounding the internment of political opponents and Jews in seven camps throughout Vichy North Africa during World War II. The protagonist is a Spanish-German Jewish journalist and activist named Hans Frank. The reader accompanies Hans on a journey from Nazi Germany, at the rise of the Third Reich, through Spain during the Civil War, France and Norway during the Nazi invasion, and finally to Algeria and Morocco as they fall under the control of Vichy France. Along the way, deep connections between oppression under colonialism, fascism, and anti-Semitic regimes are illuminated while the work also retraces an international network of militants working against these forces. To bring this historical ethnography to life, Aomar Boum, a historical anthropologist and Maurice Amado Chair in Sephardic Studies at UCLA, collaborated with Nadjib Berber (Nad), a well-known cartoonist from Algeria. In March of 2023, Elizabeth Perego, historian and author of Humor and Power in Algeria, 1920 to 2021 (Indiana University Press, forthcoming), interviewed Boum to discuss how this project came together and its significance as a form of historical narration. Sadly, in the process of preparing for this interview, Nadjib Berber passed away. This conversation about one of his final projects is dedicated to his memory.
Elizabeth:The beginning of the Undesirables brilliantly shows the intricate connections that existed between communities from different areas in Western Europe and North Africa. Why did you feel that it was important to start the work this way and in Germany in particular?
Elizabeth: How do you convey what is in the archive through artwork and a narrative story that includes dialogue, which, while informed, does have to be imagined at least in its word-for-word format? Were there any points in the work where you had to speculate a bit as to how events occurred?
Elizabeth:Some of the characters in the work who speak or are mentioned like Si Kaddour Benghabrit (the first rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris) were actual historical figures while others are composite figures. How did you decide which voices should be included, and how did you go about trying to merge different voices and experiences from the archives into these characters?
Elizabeth: In Undesirables, we see nationalist activists being detained alongside Jewish and political prisoners in Algeria. Do we see evidence from the archives of these communities discussing their experiences of oppression or what relations were like between them?
Aomar: I would make sure that students are introduced to the complex colonial structures in North Africa before I assign the book. Once Students understand the dynamics and nature of French, Spanish and Italian colonialisms in North and West Africa, then they will be able understand why it is important to read World War II through these Mediterranean connections. Our graphic novel will make it easy for any classroom on Holocaust Studies or World War II to visualize the theoretical and conceptual notions of race.
Extracurricular Activities is a visual novel following the main character (you!) through his endeavor of trying to romance a member of his tennis team. The choices you make can impact the way your teammates react to you, so make your choices carefully.
Currently, there are 7 dateable characters (5 of which are completed), and there will be no more added after Dwayne.

Updated the Public Demo to version 1.173. It's one of the most recent builds. Bugs and errors in this version do not have to be reported to me. The android version -IS- the correct version, despite the file name.

Hi just wanted to give a positive note and let ypu k ow abour a funny glitch ive seen. If you go backwards in text (like by hitting the back button) sometimes the characters who can make multiple facial expressions will sometimes have their heads disconnect and float off their bodies. (I can add a picture if I explained poorly so feel free to let me know) Not sure if this is cause i play on mobile but figured id mention as its kinda funny.
But aside from that love all the routes and stories they tell, I want to punch Richard in the face for being such a jealous ass but I'm glad for day 23 of his route and I can't wait to see how everything turns out. Take care!!
havent played in a while but i keep doing the darius route to see if i did something wrong and keep getting the same bad ending did something change ? or is there a specific choice i keep messing up i forgot
Is it just me or did the new Ren'Py update not only break existing saves but also break saving. I keep getting the same "Exception" throughout all the the visual novels/games i'm playing when I try to save. "Exception: Not saved - no valid save locations.". I started getting this "Exception" a couple days ago, I thought the issue would fix itself but I don't know :(
Saves breaking are explained in the DevLog, but the save Exception could be one of two things. Trying running as admin and saving (could be something with permissions), or, if you're using the Itch app, it could be a problem with that. At least, that's what I got from google, cause I've never seen that issue.

after the new update my game completely resets itself and there are no extra days nor there is a picture with Dwayne and Richard in the menu. Even with these lil problems the routes are still working when i start from day one, i guess its just weird not seeing the new picture with all the datable characters haha
I would say the entire tennis team (you meet them all at the beginning) is all fairly versatile in terms of on screen content, with the exception of Coach Grifter who has a preference for bottoming overall, but still tops once.
This recollection does not account for the number of non-dick-in-butt sex scenes. There are too many for me to recall all of them, but there's at least like 4 (probably more) in each route, with some of them being mildly kinky and roles may vary depending on whose route you're on. I guess it just depends on what actions you would identify as "Top/Bottom Behaviour".
Hi, I just downloaded the new update but when I try to open it, it keeps saying (not responding) even though I've been playing this game ever since and they have worked but now it has decided not to work.
So I recently updated to the recent Android version and am working through Spencer's story and when they went to go change for the wedding the background went black with a message "Image 'Chapleroom' not found" in the top left. I'll try installing the APK again, but I don't see why that would fix it if it didn't work initially.
Edit 2: Apparently I actually didn't have the new version installed... After getting it installed and getting my saves transferred (Easier said than done... Seriously android.build? xD) it loads the locker room fine, but now when I look at the text history and scroll back too much I get a renpy error that if I ignore it causes it to go back to just displaying the current text. Not sure what's going on.
I got to ask, why during the middle of Spencer's route it seems like his sprite model loses the ability to show any type of emotion? Cracking jokes, being annoyed, trying to be sexy with eric, or just being pissed off at Darius, his face seems to be stuck in the default setting. Love Spencer route but this little hiccup seem so weird and off-putting, especially when it lasts for so many days and doesn't fix itself till near the end.
Hey I've been struggling for a while now for dwayn route day four i cant enter my input option for the cafeteria scene and im on a mobile so theres no button or anything for me to press ive been stuck here for 3 days now really need help as soon as possible

I found a glitch on Coach's route
On day 12, when you are given to freely choose where to go, if you choose to go home, the game thinks that you chose the option of college and does not let you go home, I THINK it is because the day before I chose to go home too
Ironically, the parts I enjoy the most about this VN is when all the guys get together to play tennis. Although, personally, If I had any sort of influence on the story during its development, I would've made Eric the number one player on the team (a little better than Spencer, without reducing Spencer's skill level or drive to go pro), but make him have less desire than Spencer to make a professional career out of it.
Not only do I think that would be nice for Eric to have as an accomplishment from the get-go (or one that isn't earned through the association of the in-route love interest you picked, anyway), but I am also of the opinion it would help Spencer's character out a little, too, by removing his ONLY disparaging personality traits, that being how his ego cannot let anyone be better than him at the things he does and his tendencies to be an asshole on the court.
