Theoption to use gifs is just not there i tried checking the select third party content to use menu but it no luck also tried resetting keyboard and wiping its data but no luck , my device is s23 ultra running last os update

"Don't let your strategy be someone else's tactic," as the adage says. Being the "Google of gifs" is a service, but without a truly unique offering, gif search is a utility that can easily be replicated. When the content looks largely the same across multiple apps, it's not distinctly different from an emoji keyboard.

As I wrote in my last article, this current "vibe" puts a premium on individual expression. TikTok videos can become global viral moments, but there are also micro-communities and micro-influencers for what feels like any category under the sun. Memes can go down endless referential spirals (like "girl explaining to guy") and be adapted quickly and easily to suit different sub-groups. And that's not even getting into platforms like BeReal, which are about as individualistic as you can get.

If we are going to change it so some gifs are rejected we are going to have to do format detection for animated gifs and then drive some special rejection code. This is especially complicated for images we have to optimize (due to dimensions) cause we will no longer be able to optimize animated gifs.

That said @codinghorror I would not wrestle here if you want to nuke support for animated gif resizing but it is a fairly complex change, identification is easy enough, but driving the rejection with an error message may be a bit tricky.

To give an example, I am using lua with the lua-gd package to draw gifs. Even the example code given, which gives a nice gif of an enlarging circle, doesn't play on WhatsApp. Note that my version of WhatsApp can view gifs just fine (for example those sent via web WhatsApp using Giphy gifs).
