For complete license details, review the free product section of the Software License Agreement. The free Code 39 barcode font is only supplied in one size, with the 3:1 ratio, and without product support; if more sizes or support are needed consider the licensed version of the Code 39 Barcode Font Package.
To generate a Code 39 barcode from a font, the data to encode is to be surrounded by asterisks as the start and stop characters, i.e. *153969*. To hide the asterisks from appearing in the human-readable below the barcode, use the parenthesis surrounding the data, i.e.(12345). If the font is not in the font selection list of the application after installation, check the application settings. Most applications allow the ability to disable a feature that lists the font names in the fonts list. For example, if the font is not in the Microsoft Office fonts list, follow these steps:
If a higher-density barcode is required, considerCode 128 or a 2D barcode such as QR Code or DataMatrix for something that can withstand damage and still scan correctly. The licensed version of the Code 39 font also includes fonts with a 2:1 ratio of width to make the symbol narrower.
Code 39 is one of the most common barcodes in use today, and thus virtually every barcode scanner will be capable of reading Code 39. When using a printer with less than 600 DPI, the following point sizes should be used to create accurate barcodes:
The free Code 39 barcode font is only supplied in one size. In the Licensed Code 39 Font Package, several versions of the fonts are provided to support human-readable versions in addition to different height and width requirements, including a narrow 2:1 ratio version. The last character in the font name determines the height of the barcode with the shortest being "XS" and the tallest being "XXL".
Have a wonderful good day dear programmers. I am currently faced with the problem that I would like to represent a number as a barcode. Have installed the Code128.ttf under Windows. However, this is not allowed as a text font when filling in the report. Always set to the old font. Do you have an idea which font works? Thank you very much for your help. Walter Schober
I downloaded the font from the web and installed it on Windows 11. In all programs this font also works as usual (Exel, Word etc. also other programs). Only under Clarion 11 does he simply reset the set font to the previous one. Funny. It also displays it in Fontsliste. Everything is normal until then. Then he puts it back again. Thank you for your efforts. Walter Schober
Business Central online includes the following one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) barcode fonts and symbologies from IDAutomation. The fonts have different specifications for characteristics like encode numbers, symbols, uppercase, and lowercase text. Knowing the specifications is useful for calibrating fonts used on report layouts. Barcode symbology is the mapping between data and the barcode image. It defines how to encode the data, including computation of a checksum and required start and stop marker symbol.
A font can consist of several versions to support different requirements for characteristics like width and height, human-readability, and so on. Each font version has a specific name. You use the font name to set up the barcode in a report layout.
IDAutomation also provides evaluation (demo) fonts for trial and test purposes. The evaluation fonts have names that are similar to the purchased fonts. Evaluation fonts typically include an S and Demo in font name. For example, Code 39 includes a purchased font with the name IDAutomationHC39M and an evaluation font with the name IDAutomationSHC39M Demo.
When you're applying barocode font in the report layout for a Business Central online production environment, be sure to use the purchased font name; not the evaluation font name. If you use the evaluation font name, the barcode won't render. Refer to font specifications linked above to see a list of purchased font names.
I am using IDAutomationHC39M font to display barcode in Web application, barcode is displaying in crystal report viewer, but it is not displaying in exported PDF from crystal report viewer. Is there any solution to display it in PDF?
If you are attempting to encode a small amount of characters, it may be a good idea to be sure that your scanner is capable of scanning the minimum amount, as many are set to read a minimum of 4 characters in a barcode. On the other hand, if there are too many characters being encoded in a barcode, then it will be too large and will not scan properly. Decreasing the font size and re-scanning may solve this issue.
On X3 version 6.5 (and version 5) we installed font IDAutomationHC39M.ttf on client computers to get barcodes to show on crystal reports. With V12 I figured I would have to install the font on the server(s). I installed the font on both the application and database servers then rebooted them. However the barcode font is still not showing on the generated PDF files.
We gave up on using fonts to create barcodes and create images using ZXing instead. You include the zxing files (core-3.1.0.jar and javase-3.1.0.jar in our case, which can be found at and ) in [lucee]/tomcat/lib, then the following code will produce a barcode:
Code 39 is known as Code 3 of 9 which is the most used barcode and able to scan by every barcode scanner. In this code, every single character has 5 bars and 4 spaces in total 9 characters. Out of total 9 characters, 3 characters are always wide. It can encode 26 uppercase letters, 10 digits and 7 special characters.
PDA scanner is a tool specially used for barcode scanning, which can provides strong support for enterprise digital operation and big data analysis which promotes more efficient management and higher productivity.
The barcode is just the latest in your long line of useful posts. Just as a heads up for other readers, none of the installation schemes that involved the Windows Control Panel (including the one on the ID Automation site) would
work for me. Finally, noticing that the installation file had an .exe extension, I double-clicked it and it installed the font with a couple of brief clicks.
We can use any of them for installation there are some minor differences between those 2 font files but that they are not that important. Here I have copied .otf file to K2 Server and double click on Idautomationhc39m-Mr9x.otf file and it will open a window as below where you need to click on Install button.
Once Installation is finished the Install button gets disabled which means the installation has been completed successfully. Now to just verify we can open a notepad and see the font is available for selection in Format -> Fonts tab. If you see that barcode format in fonts as below then it is installed properly.
IDAutomation's Free Code 39 Barcode Font allows the ability to print letters, numbers and some symbols with the Code 3 of 9 symbology. This font is a fully functional freeware font - not a demo. TrueType and OpenType versions are provided.

This font is supplied in only the M size (medium). If other heights are required or the Macintosh classic, PCL, laserjet soft font or PostScript formats are needed, a purchase of theCode 39Font Advantage Package is required, which is supplied in 6 different bar code heights (XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL) and 4 different versions.
To create the correct output for the Code 39 barcode font, the data must be appended with an asterisk as the start and stop characters, for example*153969*. In Microsoft Word, the start and stop characters should be "!" instead ofthe asterisk because of a formatting issue. For example: !153969!. To suppress the asterisks from being visible below the barcode, use "(" and ")" instead at the beginning and ending of each barcode.
If the font is not viewable in font selection list of the application after installation, check the application settings. Most applications allow the ability to disable a feature that lists font names in their font. For example, in Microsoft Office if the font is not viewable in font selection list, follow these steps:
