Petition For Supplemental Environmental Review For FAA Airspace Redesign To Include NextGen Procedures
Attached to this email is a draft letter to FAA acting Administrator Michael Huerta that petitions the FAA undertake a supplemental environmental impact statement (EIS) for its NY/NJ/PHL Airspace Redesign (Redesign) project. Please consider that your organization join our petition.
The original EIS, for the most part, did not include the impacts from implementation of the agency’s NextGen flight pattern technology, which the FAA itself admits concentrates flight patterns and could generate new noise and emissions impacts (see FAA slide below). Given this exclusion, the current EIS for the Redesign does not reflect the potential environmental impacts from the NextGen technology that the FAA has committed to implement.
We believe that the FAA has the responsibility to present an accurate EIS that is open for Public review and comment.
