Subject: RE:[saleslogix-l] Web service to generate shipping labels from Fedex

I have to generate the shipping label and save it in SLX(if possible) in a contact Note with the Lit Request details, apart from Printing it on the default Printer available for that machine(regular laser printer and NOT those special printers where you print labels). Now is that going to use FedEx Components? I thought they are going to send back the Conf number and the shipping label as a Binary Stream which I can utilize in any way on my side.

Address Validation was just my idea of leveraging this further in a server component so that we have better addresses in our system(I routinely run in problems in my Geo/Demographics reports because of bad addresses)

It does include an address validation component. It returns a collection of validated (and formatted addresses)? then actually choosing the right address from the collection (there should only be 1 address in the collection if you passed enough info to the service) and then updating the SLX DB w/ that info is up to you.

When using NSoft for fedex, Do we have to go thru prequalifications with Fedex? I mean where I am going to get the meter number for use in slx? I can do these certifications once, but year over year, when we are busy with something else, this should not end up being a PITA.

We have been using a product called ShipRush by Z-Firm ( ). Their product line includes FEDEX, UPS and two USPS offerings - all of which have a built-in interface with SalesLogix. They also offer an SDK product.

Update: Boss wants to script out this whole thing before we try out any other integration products. Heard from other forums that FedEx has its own stringent rules for prequalification before letting WS calls come in. Lets see

Can we extend this process to do some other processing as well. seems like this is a separate app which does the Fedex WS calls behind the scenes. That is all OK provided we get to extend the processing by updating another system with the shipping Label and confirmation number.

Apart from some regular slx processing(getting data from a remote SQL View and using that in a slx managed screen) that i get for some Literature requests, I have to generate fedex shipping number and print shipping label to be included in the actual mailing.
