5) A VIEW FROM THE CHAIR
(This comes from Anthony Salafia, Church Chair)
The new year is upon us and our council, search team and
transition team will be meeting with our transition coach
Alan Forsman this Saturday. Our pastoral search process,
council transition and church identity will be among our
many topics of discussion. We welcome your input, prayers
and are seeking the Lord’s guidance through this process.
The outreach committee met last night to discuss Wednesday
night fellowship plans. This past fall was a huge success.
Delicious dinners, outstanding teaching and fellowship
were enjoyed by many. Start planning now to come to the
mid-week fellowship nights that will start in February.
There will be an upcoming flier.
Turlock Relay For Life (American Cancer Society/
www.cancer.org) held their kickoff meeting at Cornerstone
this past Monday night. This is a community wide 24 hour
event held at CSU Stanislaus on the June 23, 24, 2007
weekend. We have many members of our church who have been
impacted personally or through family or friends by cancer.
Some of you have participated in this event in the past
and know what a great way it is to show support. Greg
Oppenhuizen has discussed having the ROC youth group
involved this year.
There are many details involved in operating our church. I
am grateful for all of you who are faithfully serving.
Many of you have talents and abilities that haven’t been
tapped into. Please contact Pastor Sean or myself to
discuss how the Lord could use your abilities at
Cornerstone.
In His Service,
Anthony Salafia

6) STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING
(This comes to us from Kut Palmberg, Stewardship Chair)
Please mark your calendars for 6 p.m., Thursday, January
18th, for a Stewardship Meeting. Come prepared to discuss
the visionary direction of the stewardship activities we
should encourage at Cornerstone for the new year.
We also need to begin preparation to pass on our collective
wisdom to the next stewardship chair.
We are still in transition so it is important to solidify
and reinforce the strong building block of stewardship for
future generations. We've done a wonderful job of
formulating and presenting a positive position on
stewardship to our church. We continue to plant seeds,
water them, and let God cultivate them into a healthy crop.
Thank you for your evidenced stewardship,
Kurt Palmberg

5) A VIEW FROM THE CHAIR
(This comes from Anthony Salafia, Church Chair)
Our council meets tomorrow to discuss our annual meeting
next month. Nominations for open council positions will be
made. Please make your suggestions for church leadership
known to me or pastor Sean as we can share this with the
nominating committee. Let’s be diligent and prayerful in
this process.
Our Pastoral Search Team (Lloyd Ahlem, Don Johnson, Mike
Gilton, Karen Walker, Chuck Johnson, Lindsay Ahlem, Blanche
Krumm, Chelsea Gibbs and Anthony Salafia) met with Alan
Forsman from the Covenant to discuss the search process.
Our first step is the completion of our church profile that
pastoral candidates can review. The Search Team will be
keeping the congregation informed of the process through a
monthly bulletin insert and periodic Sunday morning
announcements. Certain aspects of the search are
confidential. We invite your questions about the process
and they will be shared at the Search Committee meetings.
Keep our pastoral staff in your prayers as they travel to
the Covenant Mid Winter Conference. Pastor Darryl Larson
will be preaching this Sunday.
In His Service,
Anthony Salafia
