~ Following the Congregational Meeting -- Please join us to
welcome Wainer Guimaraes, project missionary to Brazil.
Bring the family and enjoy a time of visiting, relaxing and
sharing a simple meal together along with encouraging our
brother in Christ with our presence and interest in what
God is doing outside of our own four walls. The lunch will
be served at Bruce and Katy Dockter's home. (RSVP 669-1088)
A simple salad luncheon will be served. In lieu of
preparing an expensive potluck dish please bring a simple
salad topping. Also, please consider making a donation to
Wainer's ministry comparable to what you would have spent
taking your family out to lunch; a 'donation jar' will be
available.

4) A VIEW FROM THE CHAIR
(This comes to us from Anthony Salafia, church chair)

I'd like to invite the congregation (members/non members)
to have an open discussion tomorrow night, Wednesday, April
11th, after the fellowship dinner to discuss the proposed
associate pastor position that we are voting on this
Sunday. There are questions about the position, timing, and
of course budget ramifications that would be good to get
communicated prior to Sunday. This is very informal and I
can share some thoughts I've been hearing from others this
past week and a half.

7) COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL
(This comes to us from Aileen Nelson)

On April 22nd, we will be celebrating Compassion Sunday at
Cornerstone for the eight year. We have about 40 families
at Cornerstone who sponsor one or more children who once
lived an abject poverty and are now finding hope, finding
Christ, attending school, learning Christian values, having
medical care and having a chance for a future. These
sponsors are changing the world for on child at a time.
Many
sponsors say their own lives have been enriched and heir
values changed as well.

8) DOING CHURCH 2007 CONFERENCE
(This comes to us from Dhyan Gilton, Outreach Chair)

Plan now to join our group from Cornerstone at this
exciting two-day conference, May 11-12 in Walnut Creek, as
we discover how to energize our faith in the real world!

It's time for our faith to become dynamic, active and
applied 24/7. This radical, powerful and biblical way of
living will send us beyond the walls of what we call
"church" and out into the world as we live this Everyday
Faith.

We will be registering as a group to receive a discounted
rate. See the Dockters or Giltons for details. For more
information about this conference go to:

11) CSUS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP GROUP (CHI ALPHA)
(This comes to us from Dhyan Gilton, Local Outreach Chair)

Chi Alpha is sending a team of 18 students overseas this
summer to reach out to predominantly "closed" Muslim
countries. Last Wednesday night the director and his wife
came and explained the mission. The Outreach Committee
would like to support them by hosting a yard sale on
Saturday, May 19th. We are urging the congregation to bring
household items in good condition to sell (no clothing).
Donations can be brought to the church from Wednesday, May
16th, to Friday, May 18th. Instead of signing up for our
own individual spots, we will let the Chi Alpha students
manage and benefit from the sale. If you would like to
price your stuff for them, please do so. Thank you for
supporting this outreach to Stan State students. If you
have any questions please call Dhyan Gilton 634-6920.
