Hi everyone,

After updating to mountain lion every time that I am trying to use quick cursor it does not work, freezes and I get the beach ball of death.
Anyone else having the same issue?

I can't check for specifics until after the weekend, but what version of MacVim are you running?

I haven't updated for a while, so I had been running MacVim snapshot 64. With that, QC 2.7 + OS X 10.8.2 works okay on my configuration.

Just downloaded Snapshot 65 and I did see the beachball on the first run of the Snapshot 65 (the one built specifically for 10.8). After about 10-30 seconds of spinning, MacVim (65) finally launches. Quitting both MacVim and QuickCursor, then relaunching QuickCursor, seems to get things working again at least for this short test. Rather strange and not conclusive, sorry.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply!

I am running MacVim 7.3.646 snapshot 65. I tried again after quitting and restarting quick cursor and it worked but without selecting and picking up the current text. I then quit MacVim again and tried. The issue was back.

Gonna try to find the previous MacVim snapshot and try but when you check this out do let me know please.

best

Nuts, really? MacVim (65) has been behaving for me today even after a reboot.

If possible, could you check Console.app for any MacVim/QuickCursor messages when you try to use that combo?

I just bought this app few minutes ago thinking that it would work in mountain lion with macvim. I have the same issue.

Here is what I found in console.app errors.

Does the same thing happen with another editor app like TextWrangler? (It's a free app)

Thanks for the console logs.

For me console does not give any errors. Textwrangler is working but it does not pick up the existing text.
When I write a new line, exit and save it pastes the sentence where the cursor was.

Ah! I also tried to reinstall snapshot 64 but the issue persists.

Interesting, then it might be a configuration issue of some sort (not sure on whose end at this stage).

If you create a new user account (System Preferences > Users & Groups) or use the Guest account, does QC + MacVim work properly then? Sorry for all the testing requests, the console log's the best lead so far but I won't know much until I hear back from the others if they can figure it out from that.

Ah no worries. No the issue is still there with a fresh account.

OK, thanks for checking on that. More fodder for the bug report...

Same problem! What is wired is that QuickCursor works occasionally ( 1 out of 10 ...)

The behavior i'm seeing is pretty atrocious - application freezes, beach ball of death, no text is pasted in, and finally must be killed when i try to open apps.  It works rarely, every once in a while. Here's my console output for a typical crash with MacVim.  I'm running 10.8.2 on MBP Retina with the latest MacVim.  Similar problems occur with TextWrangler but only 50% of the time not 95% as it does with MacVim.

Thanks for the console log and the device info, adding it to the bug list now.

So I am getting the beachball of death as well, after upgrading to 10.8.2 It happens for EditorClient and for AquaEmacs. In my case, I do not get anything in the console logs; after about 60 seconds the beachball stops and thats it. Nothing ever gets to Emacs.

As an update to this thread, we're looking into this (http://mjtsai.com/blog/2012/10/04/aesendmessage-bug-in-mac-os-x-10-8-2/) as the likely culprit. I don't have an ETA at this time, sorry.
