QuickApps seems to be a great system to create websites. Installation has been straightforward and all works great. I am at a point where I need to create a custom theme to test out further, however, I have hit an intersection with no clear path forward. I have looked at the documentation, but I have not found anything specific to creating themes. For CakePHP I usually use bin/cake bake to create my plugins/themes. Anyone aware of any documentation on how to use a shell to create themes for QuickApps?

Hi Andre,

QACMS themes (and plugins) are not too much different from Cake's, as described in the QuickBook:

There are only two requirements (or differences):

Also, at the official themes repository you can find a basic Theme to use as starting point: https://github.com/quickapps-themes/basic-theme

Feel free to contact if you need more information or help.

Best regards!,
Chris

Chris,

Thank you for the detailed response. I will create my theme similarly to the basic-theme and go from there.

Another question: I realized QuickApps has been in Beta2 for over a year. Do you have plans to release a stable version soon? Do you have plans to allow the community to help you reach this goal?

FYI, for me this is the best CakePHP CMS around and if there is anything I can do to help I would.

Thanks,
Andre

Hi there,

Yes, QACMS has been in beta2 for almost a year.
The main reason is I been a bit busy trying to get my Master Degree. I would love to get people involved in this project, every contribution is always walcomed. The thing is that QACMS is almost unknown in the CakePHP world, and my skills as "Community Manager" are not pretty good as you can see.

However, despite of QACMS still in beta2, its API is pretty much stable by now, I mean no more big changed are expected for the next release. So current efforts are focused in testing, bug finding and creating a good QuickBook. We should do some serious testing coverage before releasing a stable version.

Summarizing. I been always open to contributions from the community, and would love to see more people involved in this project.
So if you're willing to help, it is as easy as forking the repo, or testing and reporting bugs found, or translating to other languages, etc.

PS: I'll create a "Contributing" section in the book.

Best regards!

Chris,

Good luck with your Master.. that is certainly very important.

I personally like working with CakePHP and setting up a new website every time can get time consuming. The reason I stumbled upon your project is because I was planning on creating something similar although not as advanced to use when I want to quickly launch a new website. Your project is fully inline with my thinking and I am starting to like it. I just need to fully understand it.

Moving forward I will work on it and contribute as much as possible. As I further learn the system, I will stay in touch.

Thanks,
Andre S.
