Due to an email I received earlier and after much thought I have
decided to make some changes as far as Quick Tag is concerned.
1. There will no longer be any updates included in the sale of Quick
Tag, Quick Tag 3.5 is priced at $25 with one year of updates until 4.0
is released. Once I release 4.0 (hopefully tomorrow) Quick Tag 3.5
will be retired and no more will be sold with updates included.
2. Quick Tag 4.0 will be lowered to $30 instead of $40 (No updates
included) to compensate for the removal of updates.
3. A year of updates will now be $20 per year with no multiple year
discounts once 4.0 is released. This is not to cheat or steal form
anyone but to compensate for the many hours I put into development,
continuous improvement and addition of new features in each new
version of Quick Tag.
A year of updates to me means and has meant that if I update the
script during the 365 days after your purchase you are entitled to
that update at no additional charge. The license that came with every
package sold states virtually the same thing except in legalese terms.
A year of updates does not mean you are entitled to an update whenever
a new one is released, only when it's released during your update
period that expires one year after your purchase.
Think of it like a car warranty, you buy a car it comes with a
warranty for a set period of time, for this example, we will say one
year. You drive your new car for 365 days and it runs great, then on
day 366 or 367 it throws a rod or the transmission goes out. Will the
dealer replace your engine or give you a new transmission? No, your
warranty expired a day or two earlier.
Your car came with a year of warranty which means you get repairs paid
for by the company you bought the car from beginning the day you
bought it, so in the event repairs were needed. It's not something
that can be saved or
stored for the day you will need to use.
Same thing with Quick Tag, your year began the day you bought a
license to use it and expires 365 days later, no rain checks, etc.
I thought I was being nice & fair including a year of updates with the
purchase, I've sold many at bargain prices and have always tried to
help even when I don't provide html support. 99% of errors have been
simple
misspelling errors or other user errors not script related but I
always try and assist FREE of charge.
I'm sorry these changes have to be made, and all I can say to those of
you who have been wonderful customers and friends, I am sorry that
these changes will affect you.
May you have a wonderful New Year.
