Open Source?

I'm a big fan of PlantUML and QDBD matches very closely a feature I wish PlantUML had.  Are there plans to release the source so that people can run this locally?  I have a project that I would love to use this tool, but I can't share technical data with anyone outside of the company.

Hi Dave,

Sorry, we don't intend to release the source code because we are aiming to commercialise the tool eventually. One way we may do this is by releasing a version that could be run on-premises by customers. Hopefully that would meet your needs (and be worth buying!). We're considering delivery mechanisms that include:

• Container e.g. Docker
• Virtual machine e.g. VirtualBox
• Desktop app e.g. electron

They each have pros and cons regarding ease of distribution/installation and the extent to which each would allow us to include all current functionality. Would any of those work for you, and would you consider paying for such a product? I'd be very interested in any comments you have. Hey,

Just discovered your product. I'm a huge fan of diagrams as text. The syntax is really similar to PlantUML or other textual diagramming languages but seems to fill a void in the textual diagramming world for ERD data modeling.

There are a lot of open source companies out there that charge for their software, open source and free are two separate things.

Thanks for the links. QuickDBD is currently a side project, and we do want to grow it. We're going to consider all models for doing that. Happy diagramming!
