Odinis a utility software program developed and used by Samsung internally which is used to communicate with Samsung devices in Odin mode (also called download mode). It can be used to flash a custom recovery firmware image (as opposed to the stock recovery firmware image) to a Samsung Android device. Odin is also used for unbricking certain Android devices.[2] Odin is the Samsung proprietary alternative to Fastboot.

There is no account of Samsung ever having officially openly released Odin,[3] though it is mentioned in the developer documents for Samsung Knox SDK[4] and some documents even instruct users to use Odin.[5] Some other docs on Knox SDK reference "engineering firmware",[6][7] which presumably can be a part of the Knox SDK along with Odin. Publicly available binaries are believed to be the result of leaks. The tool is not intended for end-users, but for Samsung's own personnel and approved repair centers.[8]

Although none of the publicly available downloads are authorized by Samsung itself, XDA-Developers consider the files offered on their Forum (Patched Odin v3 3.13.1 for windows) (Odin v4 1.2.1 for linux) the safest option.

For the usage of Odin, the phone needs to be in Download mode. For this, some key combination need to be pressed, such as Power + Volume Down + Home, or Power + Volume Down + Bixby for later models.[9]

Heimdall is a free/libre/open-source, cross-platform replacement for Odin which is based on libusb.[3] The name Heimdall, like Odin, is an allusion to Norse mythology; both Odin and Heimdall are among the deities of the Norse pantheon.[10][non-primary source needed]

To use Odin link.exe is required to be in the PATH of the callee as mentioned, this can either be achieved by calling Odin from the X64 Visual Studio command prompt or by calling the vcvarsall.bat (with x64 as an argument) script either in your shell or in your build script.

Notes for Linux: The compiler currently relies on the core and shared library collection being relative to the compiler executable. Installing the compiler in the usual sense (to /usr/local/bin or similar) is therefore not as straight forward as you need to make sure the mentioned libraries are available. As a result, it is recommended to simply explicitly invoke the compiler with /path/to/odin in your preferred build system, or add /path/to/odin to $PATH.

This document describes how to install the Odin client for Windows(Odin does not run on any other platforms). Please note, our supportcontract with Odin entitles us to live technical support during normalbusiness hours. This document assumes you have followed ourWindows XP Installation instructions,and have a client machine that is on the Suffield network. Briefly,this means you must be running Windows XP Service Pack 2 with DomainAuthentication enabled.

You must also have a networked account that belongs to the ODINgroup, as well as a valid Odin username and password. Contact theNetwork Administrator if you do not have access to the Odin group.Contact the Business Manager if you need an Odin username and password.

We must install Odin as the local Administrator, but the data filesfor Odin are only accessible by certain networked accounts.Therefore, we must download a special login script that connects usto the server with a networked username, while letting us use thelocal Administrator account on the client machine.

Double-click the Mount Odin Network Drive.bat file on the desktopand follow the prompts to log in. You will need the username andpassword of a networked user who belongs to the Odin group. Contactthe Network Administrator if you need access to this group.

When you're done, the Odin folder from your start menu will appearand will contain shortcuts to the locally installed versions ofStore Manager and Store Register. Delete these shortcuts, aswe use the networked versions instead.

Under the [Register] section of the WorkStn.cfg file, changethe line Code to have a unique value (single letter or digit).Add the value to the RegisterAssignments.txt file when you'redone. If you do not have access to this file, notify the NetworkAdministrator of the new register code.

Optionally, you may change the Odin area that the user sees bydefault. Under the [Misc] section of the config file, you canchange DefaultSalesArea to have one of the values found in theO:\Shared\odin.cfg file.

At this point, Odin is correctly installed on the machine, and shouldbe useable by the local Administrator. Try running OdinLogn andlogging in with a valid Odin username and password. If thatsucceeds, run StoreMgr and confirm that you have access to theinventory files.

Finally, if a user of the computer needs to be added to the Odingroup on the file server, please notify the Network Administrator.Ask them to add the user, and to change their login profile toautomount the Odin drive on startup.

Question 1 : What shall I do with in my new install while choosing boot partition i.e while choosing the same boot partition shall I choose the option format and use or just use. Also What will happen to Windows boot loader if I choose to format my boot partition and the use it while installing the new OS version.

There are few things to know here. The default Windows EFI partition of 100MB is too small for Windows and Elementary - Elementary will not be able to install on it. You need to create a second EFI partition of 512MB, format it as FAT32 and with "boot,esp" flags, and then configure your BIOS to boot from the second EFI.

I assume you mean EFI partition when you are asking about "boot partition". You don't need boot partition mounted on /boot, just EFI partition mounted on /boot/efi. Do not format the existing one as that will delete the windows bootloader. Create new EFI partition for Elementary.

It is always good to have some swap. 512MB-2GB should be sufficient for most cases. You can also install the package zram-tools ("apt install zram-tools") after Elementary is fully installed, which can use part of the RAM as compressed swap.

The Odin School Board has awarded Griffith Construction of Odin a contract to replace all of the windows in the grade school portion of the building over the next two summers. A total of 23 windows will be replaced for $29,000. Superintendent Belinda Kirgan says the work will be paid for through a COPS US Department of Justice grant.
