I vaguely remember playing either fear 2 or fear 3 with my husband years and years ago and having a ton of fun. I would like to replay it with a friend and I cant find anything about either one being multiplayer on steam. Is it still possible to play with people over the internet? I dont want to buy it for us both without knowing for sure.
The game was first shown at E3 in May 2006.[12][13] In August, publisher Sierra Entertainment revealed that due to the release of F.E.A.R. Combat (the base game's standalone multiplayer mode, which was available for free), there would be no multiplayer component to Extraction Point.[15][26] In September, a demo was released.[27]
The game's Xbox 360 announcement came in July 2007, accompanying the announcement of Perseus Mandate, with both expansions bundled together and released under the name F.E.A.R. Files.[29] Originally, the plan was to release it on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but the PlayStation version was cancelled.[30] As well as the two standalone expansions, F.E.A.R. Files also includes seven new instant action maps and five new multiplayer maps.[30]
The first expansion pack, Extraction Point, was released in October 2006. The second one, Perseus Mandate, was released in November 2007 as a standalone product and is handled in its own article. In 2006, a multiplayer-only client titled F.E.A.R. Combat was also released.
I will admit, I was a little fearful of how a UE5 game would run on the Steam Deck, considering it is a brand new engine that has new systems that can be pretty taxing on the device. I am happy to say this wasn't an issue and Layers of Fear runs fantastic right out of the box! Defaulting to low settings with TSR on Balanced, the game can run at 40 FPS with a TDP limit of 8. 40 not only feels extremely smooth, but allows the game to stay around 11W - 14W drain. But, while this works extremely well, and makes the game a Best on Deck one, we can push further.
Hey there, fellow gamers! Ready for a chilling adventure that'll have you questioning reality and clutching your controller for dear life? Well, look no further 'cause Cry of Fear is here to give you the fright of your life!
Picture this: a deserted town, eerie as heck, crawling with the creepiest creatures you can imagine. And when I say creepy, I mean a whole new level of nightmare fuel. We're talking grotesque monsters lurking in the shadows, just waiting to jump-scare the living daylights out of you. Oh, and did I mention you'll be sinking into madness as you try to unravel the twisted mysteries?
In this psychological horror fest, you'll be stepping into the shoes of a young man with more questions than answers. Armed with nothing but your wits and a flickering flashlight, you'll navigate through the freezing Scandinavian night, heart pounding and nerves on edge. It's a race against time to find the truth, all while battling your own inner demons.
If all that isn't enough to make your palms sweat, Cry of Fear also offers a co-op mode. Yup, that's right! Team up with your brave buddies and venture into the abyss together. Because nothing screams "friendship goals" like facing your deepest fears side by side, amirite?
But let's not forget about the immersive atmosphere and bone-chilling sound design. It's like they took the horror genre, stuffed it in a blender, and hit "pure nightmare" mode. You'll feel the goosebumps crawl up your spine as you tiptoe through the dimly lit streets, the tension building with every echoing footstep.
So, buckle up, my fellow gamers, 'cause Cry of Fear will leave you clutching your controller, screaming like a banshee, and begging for more. It's the kind of game that sinks its fangs into your brain and doesn't let go, even when the credits roll. With its psychological twists, heart-pounding gameplay, and nightmare-inducing monsters, it's an experience you won't want to miss. Trust me, GameGal knows her scares, and Cry of Fear delivers them in buckets!

While those categorizations are no longer in place, the games' descriptions still make reference to online functionality. Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition mentions a "PvP arena & online matchmaking system," while Dark Souls 2 still offers an "updated multiplayer system" with "improved online interaction to bring forward cooperative & competitive play. The most recent chronological game in the series, Dark Souls 3, doesn't refer to any multiplayer options, but 2018's Dark Souls Remastered promises multiplayer for "up to 6 players with dedicated servers."
That has some fans concerned that the multiplayer features might never be coming back. A similar fate befell the LittleBigPlanet community last autumn, leading to the PS3 servers being permanently shut down. With Bandai Namco and FromSoft's attention likely now firmly on Elden Ring, there might be little rationale for bringing them back. We've reached out to Bandai Namco for clarification on the matter.
Despite now being more than a decade old, Valve's fantastic top-down shooter Alien Swarm remains just as enjoyable as ever. The game even features cooperative multiplayer, which is something of a rarity in the free-to-play market. Of course, given the size and stature of the developer, this perhaps shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to players.
Some of the more recent changes made to Deceit have arguably cheapened the overall experience, but that's not to say that there isn't still a lot of fun to be had with this asymmetrical multiplayer game. Developer Baseline has done a great job balancing the gameplay, ensuring that controlling one of the infected is just as fun as playing as a survivor and vice versa.
Despite the game's simplicity, there is a certain level of skill required, with players needing to master the movements of the monsters and plan their own actions around them. The game is well supported by the developer too, with updates continuing to be rolled out several years on from its initial release. This includes a multiplayer mode, which, although basic, can still be a lot of fun.
A few achievements are particularly difficult because it requires an empire to act in a certain way. Easiest way to "help" these empire, to act like you want to do, is to host your singleplayer game in a multiplayer session. When you host the multiplayer game, you are given the full list of empires to control, so you can pick to play as every AI-Empire you want (not fallen empires/marauders). Pick the empire you want and do whatever this empire have to do. Then save and go back to the main menu and host your game again in a multiplayer session to repick your original empire.

No More Room In Hell was first released on Halloween of 2011 as a Half-Life 2 mod but two years later to the day, it was re-released as a standalone game. The game was created by Max Kazan. Set in a zombie apocalypse, you and your friends take the role of eight survivors who must work together to survive. There are two multiplayer game modes. In Objective, players must exit the area, and in Survival, players must kill increasing waves of zombies while supplies get dropped every now and then. If you love this one, then be sure to hop into the equally great sequel as well!
