All South African Schools are invited to enter the following competition, in support of the UN International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD). This invitation is on behalf of the SA Dept. of Science and Innovation (DSI), the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), and the National Research Foundation (NRF), with support from the Marang Centre for Mathematics and Science Education, Wits School of Education, University of the Witwatersrand. More information can be accessed from the competition website.

Teachers are invited to enter one team of learners from each SA school. Please note the important dates:

14 March 2023: Competition launch on the UN International Day of Mathematics (virtual via website, email and social media)

22 March 2023 @ 15:00: Information session for teachers via Zoom – Register for this session (attendance is optional)

31 March 2023: Last day to register for this competition (compulsory if you want to participate in the competition)

31 May 2023: Last day for submitting final work as part of competition (compulsory to stand a chance to win a prize for your school)
