Aisha (May Allah be pleased with them) said she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say,

“The people will be gathered barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised on the Day of Judgment.” Thereupon, I said,
– O Messenger of Allah! Will the men and the women not look at each other when they are together? The Prophet said,
– “O Aisha! The situation will be too hard for them to think about that.”
According to another narration, he said,
“The situation will be too severe for them to look at each other.”

(Bukhari, Riqaq 45; Muslim, Jannah 56,59)

Explanation: It is stated several times in several verses of the Quran that people will be resurrected, gathered in the presence of Allah and called to account on the Day of Judgment. The horror, trouble, joy and similar states of that day are also described in the Quran and Sunnah. In the hadith above, the Prophet states how people will appear on the Day of Judgment. Accordingly, people will be in the state as they were born from their mothers on that day, and men and women will all be together. However, the horror of that day and the fact that everybody will be interested in their own problems will make them forget everything; nobody will be interested in anyone. The Prophet expressed it clearly upon the question of Hz. Aisha. According to a narration, when Hz. Aisha asked him this question, he said: “Whether they have clothes on them or not will not do you any harm because a verse sent down to me indicates this.” When Hz. Aisha asked what verse it was, he recited the following verse: “Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.” (Abasa, 80 / 37) (Ali al-Qari, Mirqat, IX, 475).

WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED FROM THE HADITH

1. All people will gather in the presence of Allah on the Day of Judgment.

2. People will be present in the Gathering Place in the state as they were born from their mothers.

3. Everybody will be interested in their own problems in the Gathering Place; it will not be possible for people to be interested in each other and even to look at each other willingly or unwillingly.

4. Every sound hadith of the Prophet has an evidence in the Quran but we might not see and discover it.

5. Anybody who does not understand a subject well or has doubts about it should ask someone who knows.
