found it!!!

so Alan and i had gotten to talking about books htat had affected us circa 4th grade.

Alan mentinoed a book about a boy who got bit by a rattlesnake hiding under a porch.

i remembered it, we reminisced and he found it with some google searching.

i had talked about  a kid with a day glo bicycle who's babysitter was being abused by her husband.

i couldn't find it though because i thought the name was something like "kid with teh day glo bicycle"

google returned nothing.

last night, on our weekly jaunt to the library, i was walking E through the kid's books when i saw a banned books shelf. 

the first book i walk up to is THE book. day glo bicycle on the front cover.

turns out it's called cracker jackson. heh, who knew.

anyway it was good, and i can see why it would be banned.
