Don's right, this thing kind of fell apart.
would it require a format change?
what could save it and get us back to reading and talking about books again?

i too am interested in what i'm missing from your chess picture where you mention books, hathaway. enlighten me please.

For me, it was a lot of things. Neverwhere kind of got dark on me, I had a lot of things to read for seminary, and I felt like the discussion was getting to dense for me. I don't do reddit for the same reason. It is some cool stuff hidden in a wit contest.

I don't want to sound negative. It just didn't work for me once I felt it get so serious.

I think moving to hangout or fb messenger would help, if only because it forces the conversation into bite size pieces.

I'm reading Quixote. I'm reading Walking with spring. I'm reading OT commentary. I'm read books about leadership and integrity.

Holler.

I feel like this is the same thing that happened to the old chess strategy group. (Anyone remember that?)

Wouldn't the point of a chess strategy group be to get as dense as possible as quickly as possible?

Maybe we should just all get in goodreads and update there?

I feel like, first, we were deftly into dense material.  We all seem to have varied reading schedules which in at least a couple of cases fluctuate quite a bit.  The time commitment will both reading and engaging in the discussions was not insignificant while absolutely rewarding and worth it, at least in my case, other priorities easily ousted this one. (I can't believe Microsoft speech recognition just picked up ousted with no problem.) Additionally, and again this may have simply been me, I feel like our book choices were pretty out there and may not have been engaging for the whole group.  Case in point, if I recall correctly my first choice when it was my month to give options was the modern history of Rastafarianism.  Personally, while I found Britt's pick of how to think like Sherlock Holmes very interesting I wasn't excited about it initially and while the concept and subject matter were engaging, my attention span simply did not withhold the entire book.  I felt pretty bad about that, almost like I was holding up my end of the deal, which I guess that help with my total by in on the whole concept of membership in the group.  I don't know.  I guess all I'm trying to say is that I enjoyed it while it lasted but I probably wouldn't sign up again at this point.

i think Don probably hit the nail on the head with the "other priorities ousted this one"
we're simply too busy to get done all the things in which we're interested.
and we always make time for the priorities that interest us.
by extension, those things we do not make time for, we're not really interested in, and should, therefore, cut them from our lives.
I'll consider the project closed then; but would still like to hear about what you're reading.
even if it is, seriously, just seeing your updates on goodreads.com.
i'd also like to keep the email open to send you guys links to cool literary related things(as i've been doing)
