I was really into him having read his books and using his systems to really cut into my debt. I think they are great strategies. A while back I'd seen a video of him talking about the bad math of the affordable care act. As I was watching it I realized he's full on getting paid by the GOP. So I was reading this article and thinking even though the authors arguments reek of missing Ramsey's points, I think Ramsey's responses to his critiques are very unchristian. It's almost as if Ramsey's more worried about his brand(and maybe propelling conservative political agendas) than actually helping people. I'm seriously considering changing my stance on him to being unable to support or suggest his systems.
I'd really appreciate your spiritual insight on this situation.

Ramsey  came out of Crown financial ministries, who (to the best of my knowledge ) don't have a political agenda. Its the program Abbie and i went through when we got rid of all our consumer debt. Take a look and see if its something you may be more comfortable suggesting to folks.

I've never listened to his show, so i don't really have a good feel for how he really is, that isn't pulled from his books.

i mean, sure sound strategy is sound strategy.

so i can't deny that.

maybe instead of "just read Ramsey's Total Money Makeover" i'll say instead "follow these strategies..." and then list them out.

i do agree that the only thing you can control in your money situation is the choices you make. and that making good choices based on sound strategies does have a snowball effect. i also think that once you start in one system(financial, fitness, nutrition) the others do far into place:

"hey i want to save money, i'll learn how to cook and cook at home. hey now i've really into cooking i wonder if i can make healthier dishes. now i have all this energy i could go for a run or do pushups and it won't cost anything."

i felt the author of the article was nit picking, because yes correlation isn't causation, but that's not really what Ramsey is saying. i feel awkward about instead of saying that, what he chooses to say instead is "no i'm right. i'm awesome...(and so's my brand) all hard in the paint style like he did when he railed on obamacare in that video.

The founder of crown had a show called "big spender" that was fantastic. Check it out. Dude wore cowboy boots all the time and called people out about making poor decisions. Then he died.
