I just found out that even thou we only did AKC agility for 8 months,we finished 9th in all the Border Collies running in the AKC(these numbers are from the AKC invitational list). On an amusing point we are now working on Mach 6 points. ;) See you soon.

Hi Debbie S.,

Thank you very much for  letting me know. I hope all is well with you. It has not  been such a good year for me – lots of problems with aging parents, etc. I am definitely interested in going to Barb’s herding clinic again this year. How are you and Savvy doing? Have you done any more herding with him?

Katie,
Sorry to hear it has been a tough year for you:( All the more reason to schedule some fun things for you & your dogs in between taking care of your parents)
I can finally say I now have more good days than bad with Savvy!  He now can walk past horses (livestock) & moving vehicles without  him "losing it".  It just so happens that on his Birthday we took him and one of our other dogs Chloe to the Harrisburg Senators Baseball game for "take your dog to game" night.  There were 4,000 people there & approx 150 dogs there.  He surprised me that night (it was a good night) He didn't fixate on the traffic or the people.  We were able to sit in the stands with our dogs for 2 innings until he started to become somewhat aroused by the "Clap, Clap, Clap clap clap" & there was a dog in the distance that kept barking (he didn't like the sound of that bark). So we decided to leave on a good note.  I just need to keep exposing him & working on his Focus.
Savvy is going to Barbs for 5 weeks of training.  I will be getting him back on the weekend of the clinic.  He will actually be gone a total of 7 weeks since I am going to watch the Sheep Herding Nationals in Sept & then Barb will take Savvy home with her as she heads back. It sure will seem strange not having him here all that time & our house will seem empty with him. here.  I am hoping the sheep herding will help with his Focus like it seemed to help his sister "Fly".
I also got the name of a Holistic Vet that was highly recommended to me. I may be calling to see if maybe he could be of help with coming up with a remedy to help Savvy with his extreme ADHD. I haven't done it yet.  I just keep making one change at a time with him.
The clinic hasn't been posted yet so you have a little time to decide.  If you need a place to stay you are welcome to come stay at our place since we are only an hour away & you won't need to pay for a Hotel. I would love to see you again & get caught up.

Razza also has ADHD and I recently bought a smokey quartz for her to wear
It was on the advice of a AC who also works in crystal healings
So far it is helping her be able to multi focus rather than be so focused on one thing she tunes everything else out

Ann,
Interesting. I will add AC to my lists of things to try :)  I have considered it!
I ONLY wished I could get Savvy to Focus on something...anything!... this has been my struggle from day one.  Most BC's are Obsessive over one thing or another.  I've tried to get him hooked on balls, frisbees, food, etc. I think it would make training a bit easier (for reinforcement sake) He has a very busy brain and only seems to be able to focus for a 1/2 a second.  To top it off he also  WANTS TO CONTROL EVERYTHING! I've been working on that from the beginning.  It feels as though we have started to turn a corner.
Glad to hear you are having success with Razza.  Have you been trialing?  We haven't heard from you of late.  Hopefully things are going well with you & all your dogs.

If you want her name/email Id be glad to send it to you...she was very spot on, has BC's..in fact has a Uherdit dog and used to live with Debbie W for some time..so she understands the breed also.
Razza is a strong willed girl with ADD :)   ...and when she first tried to read her..Razza was too busy to talk to her..she was outside at the time.
Its worth a shot and if she recommends a crystal for you to try..they are very inexpensive. Razza wears hers in one of those quiet spot tag holders.
Seen some remarkable improvement already with her recalls on walks..
Very well worth it.

Her name is Brenda Sullivan

tell her I sent you..and if nothing else she will help provide some insight to things you may have been missing...she also does body scans...see how the dog is feeling and can tell you when the dog cant
Razza has been doing well, we have been struggling a bit in agility which is why I had such indepth readings..and she helped me see some things I was missing in Razza.
I have posted to the list but rarely does anyone read it..so I stopped.

Hope it helps..and it sure cant hurt...she is very good.

In some ways he has....other ways, he hasn't.  :)
Maybe see you at some local trials.  I don't have a dog to compete with but my plan is to take Savvy & keep working on Focus games in new environments & with distractions.
