Tempio dell'onore e delle Vertù (Glossa Platinum GCD P31903, rec 2005, 68') is a further instalment in Cantica Symphonica's Dufay series, this time concentrating on the chansons, and including all those with Italian texts. Once again, there is great attention to detail, as the fascinating note by Guido Magnano and Giuseppe Maletto reveals in its speculations about the possible use of these works in a theatrical context and about performing practice. And this attention to detail pays off in the performances, which are uniformly impressive; I can hardly imagine hearing a more exciting rendition of Navré je suis, for example, in which the instrumentalists provide lively support for an outstanding performance by soprano Alena Dantcheva. There is also an unusual attention to dynamic variation which pays great dividends in such works as Quel fronte signorile in paradiso and Ma belle dame souveraine, where it underscores the structure of both text and musical line-a cliché in the performance of 19th-century music, to state the obvious, but one rarely used in performances of repertories of this period. This is an exceptional disc on all counts, and one can only await Cantica Symphonica's next disc with breathless anticipation.

His discussion of vendetta draws heavily on Enriques, and on Florentine examples and laws. See also the Florentine/Tuscan version of vendetta, again citing Enriques, in E.
