When Kishan refuses to vacate the area, the builder and his goons make their life miserable. Kabir fights back along with a few milkmen. A few days later, Kabir is abducted by Lal who torturs him resulting in his death. Another police inspector Malati Desai tries to give them justice, but Kishan becomes frustrated. Now apparently cool and calm Kishan vows with anger and starts to take revenge against Lal and his associates.[6][3]

If you ever wondered why popular Hindi cinema appeared absurd when it came to exploring characters or stories based on the Indian community living abroad in films like Souten (1983), which released in the same year as Gehri Chot: Urf- Durdesh, Pardes (1997) or Aa Ab Laut Chale (1999) then perhaps Gehri Chot: Urf- Durdesh is the fount of all such nonsense. Despite having the all the ingredients and packing in a few sparkling moments, Gehri Chot failed to sow the seeds of the poignancy that the films of Mira Nair and, to some extent, Deepa Mehta, displayed when it came to the diaspora.

Gehri Chot, also released as Door-Desh, is a 1983 Indian-Canadian Hindi-language crime-drama film directed by Ambrish Sangal, starring Shashi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore in the lead roles with Raj Babbar, Parveen Babi, David Abraham, Nadeem Baig, and Bobita in supporting roles. This was both Pakistani actor Nadeem and Bangladeshi actress Bobita's only appearance in a Bollywood film.[1][2][3] This was also the last time veteran actor David Abraham appeared in a movie, filmed shortly before his death in 1982.

Arun Khanna (Shashi Kapoor) is an NRI from Toronto, Canada who marries a traditional Indian woman Shobha (Sharmila Tagore). They have a son named Raju (Raj Babbar) and a daughter named Pinky (Bobita). Shobha finds it difficult to fit into the Western lifestyle in Canada and eventually separates from Arun after suspecting him of an affair with his secretary. Shobha decides to take her son Raju back with her to India while Arun stays in Canada with his daughter Pinky. 20 years pass by and the family is reunited when Pinky is kidnapped by some gangsters led by psychopathic killer Tony (Nadeem Baig). Tony develops an obsession with Pinky and falls in love with her. Pinky initially resists him but eventually she too falls in love with him. Raju is brought to Canada by his mother Shobha, unaware of Arun being his father. He is told by Shobha that Arun is an old family friend who needs help finding his daughter. Raju enlists the help of Renu (Parveen Babi) to help find the gang who kidnapped Pinky. Raju soon discovers Arun is actually his father and Pinky is his sister. Raju is contacted by the kidnappers and hands over the ransom money to Tony. Tony's boss (David Abraham) realising that Tony is getting too close to Pinky decides to have Pinky killed. Tony intervenes and kills his boss and runs away with Pinky. Tony and Pinky hide out at a cottage and his boss's henchman find them and surround them, armed with guns. Raju and his family also arrive and fight off the henchmen. Pinky sees her father and runs out, while a shootout is ensuing between Tony and the henchmen. Tony runs out to save Pinky from the gunfire and is shot several times by the henchmen. Raju and Renu kill the goons and Pinky admits she loves Tony before he dies. In the end, Pinky reunites with her father, mother and brother.

Gautam Chintamani from Firstpost wrote that "Gehri Chot failed to sow the seeds of the poignancy that the films of Mira Nair and, to some extent, Deepa Mehta, displayed when it came to the diaspora".[4]

One of these initiatives is the partnership with internationally-renowned director Brillante Mendoza whose creative prowess included winning Best Director for his film Kinatay at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and Best Film at the sixth Dubai International Film Festival.

Drawing from his own experiences in rebuilding the national basketball team to compete with the best in the world, we can expect perhaps, not miracles from Coach Chot, but we are sure to see some astounding things from the Kapatid Network that live up to its reputation as an innovator and creative driving force in the entertainment industry.

From major box office hits to cult classics, Austin has provided a spectacular landscape for filmmakers to bring their vision to life. Visitors have flocked to destinations featured in iconic locally made films like "Dazed and Confused" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." With over 50 years of production, there are many film tourism locations in the Austin area to experience including those seen in "Office Space."

The work week and film begins with Peter (Livingston) stuck in stop-and-go traffic during rush hour on the way to the office. Much has changed on this roadway since the film came out in 1999, with both the Domain outdoor shopping center and Q2 Stadium developments along this section of Braker Lane.

The nondescript office building was primarily used for exterior shots of the fictional software company Initech. Since the filming, not much has changed with the building - both inside and out - as it still serves as office space, now used by DunAn Microstaq-DMQ.

An old medical office building was used to film the unforgettable scene where Peter (Livingstone) attends a hypnotherapy session with Dr. Swanson (McShane), who ends up dying of a heart attack while hypnotizing Peter. Today, this building is a real estate office.

Explore more iconic filming locations during your next visit to Austin. The Austin Film Tourism Guide has details on the where scenes from your favorite movie and television series were filmed in and around Austin.
