Oneissue with using Microsoft 365 tools on a Google Chromebook is compatibility. Chromebooks use Google's Chrome OS operating system, which is not compatible with Microsoft's desktop applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. While Microsoft provides web-based versions of these tools through Office Online, they may not have all the features and functionality of the desktop versions.

Additionally, some advanced features may not be supported on a Chromebook. This can limit the ability to use Microsoft 365 tools effectively on a Chromebook, especially for users who need access to specific features or functionality that are not available in the web-based versions of the tools. This may result in users having to use workarounds or alternate tools, which can be time-consuming and disruptive to productivity.

Another issue with using Microsoft 365 on a Chromebook is performance. Chromebooks are designed for web-based applications and may not have the processing power or memory to handle the demands of running Microsoft 365 tools, particularly for more intensive tasks such as video editing or data analysis. This can result in slow performance, freezes, and crashes, which can impact productivity and user experience.

Finally, there may be compatibility issues with other Microsoft 365 tools such as OneDrive or Teams. Some features and functions may not be fully supported on a Chromebook, or may have limited functionality compared to the desktop versions. This can result in a disjointed user experience and limit the ability to collaborate and work effectively with others.

Microsoft why are you so greedy, you need to sort out getting Microsoft Office back on chromebook before someone finds or makes an alternative to your over priced Office, also stop charging people constantly for Office, it should be a one off payment to install it on that computer or chromebook. You are disgraceful. I cannot use the free online version either as it does not even open documents

This is hilarious - typical MS monopoly! I love how the article expresses concern for the performance of the Office programs when used on a Chromebook - Microsoft looking out for my well-being AGAIN! What a gift that we have this MS Monopoly on this earth, to help and protect us all!!

When I purchased my laptop, I paid extra to have the Microsoft suite installed and this has served me very well. I sometimes use Windows to create documents however prefer to use Publisher as I find it more user friendly. I do not use MS Outlook as I have had issues with it in the past. These are the only Microsoft programs I use and I feel it is an exorbitant expectation of Microsoft to want to charge me with their 365 membership. I object strongly to being forced to pay for something I have no intention of using. I addition, I am a 72 year old retired pensioner (not self funded), who cannot afford these fees.

I am considering upgrading my laptop and was looking at the Chrome versions, however there is not much point as MS seems to have decided that their products are unworthy of being considered for such an economical computer system.

Microsoft replied with a bunch of reasons, but neglected that they had a version for Chromebook that worked fine. They just don't want to continue investing in their continued development because of the model of continually do monthly/yearly charge (surely that was a CEO decision - leaving us common people in the leark.) The reason I went to CBook was because they refused to upgrade my high-end/pricey modern windows computer. To make it clear 365 use to work on my Chromebook, then MS decided not to allow it in a recent update - monopoly! All the reasons they recently gave were PR garbage. (Real reason is MS and Google are in a greed feud, and we/people are paying for it - them thinking one of them is going to be winner by popular demand - after all Google has Docs. Maybe we say both can go to hell for making us suffer over their crap greed/monopoly war. When I went to kindergarten I was taught to get along and don't throw rocks. But yes there were always bullies (and they have grown up, without maturing, still wanting to rule the playground, still being nasty horrible bullies - where are their mothers.)
