The driver ID looks like HID\DLL06E4&COL01, i.e. a root ID and a device ID, with a \ in between. Note that the output from listclass shows additional data in the device line. You just want the first and second parts, separated by \. Don't include the second \ or anything after that.

I have had an intermittent problem with my touchpad since I bought my computer and wanted to restart the touchpad device without restarting the computer. I found that you can do this with pnputil, which is part of Windows, rather than using devcon, which requires a special download as part of a Visual Studio setup. From a command terminal, enter

The little orange light is lit up on my touchpad - then my pointer stopped working. I do not use a mouse. I didn't know how to get pointer working again so I shut off computer. What do I do the next time this happens?

The laptop orange light LED is indicating the touchpad has been turned off - this is usually a simple on/off toggle that is activated or de-activated by double tapping the corner of the touchpad where the LED is commonly this is the top left corner.

Hi,
Thanks DP-K for the reply.
I've installed ur posted driver after uninstalling the previous one in a way u said.
Now I cannot see any light (not orange nor green or anyother) on my touchpad....but touchpad is working fine.
Do I still need to configure anything of touchpad?

When posting it is most helpful if you provide the model of your computer and what Operating system you are running. I understand you accidentally turned off the Touchpad., and would now like to enable it. I am sending you a link to a page for touchpad. You will need to select the one for your operating system click here. You should also be able to enable it, following these steps. Click the Start button, and type in Mouse. Click on Mouse to open it, click on Device Settings. You should be able to enable and disable the Touchpad here.

Can you help me with the same problem?? when i turn on my laptop, the touchpad doesn't work at all..even if i double tap the button and the red light comes on and turn it off again, it doesnt work..it only works when i go to the touchpad screen and click ok..is there any way i can use the touchpad without having to go to settings every time i turn on my laptop?? thanks for helping!

I have a problem with my HP 15 Notebook PC touchpad. It stopped working, I already tried to restart the device and going to device manage into the control panel. Under the voice mice the touchpad does not appear anymore (I m not sure it was there before, I ve never checked, but I guess it was).

Click the Device Settings or the ClickPad Settings tab of Mouse Properties. If you have a Synaptics device, the tab includes the Synaptics icon.
Select the desired touchpad under the Devices list, and then click either Enable to turn on the device.

Richard Gammel filed a suit in federal court in Southern California and asked a judge to give it class-action status to represent everyone who acquired HP stock between November 22 of last year and August 18.

The world's largest computer maker "issued materially false and misleading statements regarding the company's business and financial results," lawyers representing Gammel charged in court documents available online Thursday.

HP misled investors about the health of its personal computer business and the potential for a webOS mobile operating system obtained by the acquisition of Palm to be a "game changing event" for the company.

Last month HP said it planned one last production run of its TouchPad tablet computer powered by webOS, which became a hot seller following a price cut and the announcement the company was killing the tablet computer.

Citing disappointing sales, HP, the world's largest personal computer maker, announced on August 18 that it was ending production of the TouchPad, its rival to Apple's iPad, after just seven weeks on the market.

NOTE: TURN IN THIS ASSIGNMENT IN HARDCOPY IN CLASS on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016. Please print out your entire report on paper, staple it together, and bring it to class. (If you have to miss class for any reason, you can turn in your hardcopy in advance in my office, NSH 3517, or if necessary, upload your assignment to Blackboard to demonstrate that you have it done on time.) Be sure your name is on your report!

You should create a simple (paper) questionnaire to give each of your subjects (including yourself!) to be filled out at the end after doing all the tasks. It should ask basic demographic information (see below), experience with computers and experience with the devices you are using. Then, you should have question(s) about their preferences and why. You need to include a blank copy of the questionnaire with your report so we can see what you asked.

The deliverable for this homework is a written report. We expect it to be maybe about 3-4 pages (not including figures or the copy of the questionnaire), single-spaced in TimesRoman 12 point font. Print this report and turn it in before class on the due data. Be sure your name is on your report! The report should have the following sections:

A computer performs action and accomplishes its tasks in three basic stages namely: Input, Process and Output. It works according to a set of pre-defined programs. A program is a set of sequentially arranged instructions which directs the computer to process the input, in order to produce the required output or result.

Data is a collection of raw facts and figures which are fed to the computer in the form of Input. Process is the series of actions performed on the data to convert it into meaningful result as per the given instructions. Information is the result produced by the computer in the form of output.

A computer is a wonderful electronic machine and it has many significant features which make it a multi-purpose device. The special characteristics that make it such a popular and useful machine are:

Reliability: A computer is a reliable device, it does not fail to produce accurate results. It works exactly as per the given instructions. It can even work in severe conditions, where human beings cannot work.

Versatility: A computer is versatile in nature i.e., it can work on various kinds of inputs and can produce multiple kinds of outputs like sounds, graphics, texts, animations, etc. It is a single machine capable of performing hundreds of different tasks.

Storage Capacity: A computer has a very huge memory. It can store large volumes of data in a small sized hardware device, which can be retrieved as and when required. The unit of storage of data is known as Byte.

Diligence: A computer is free from problems such as tiredness, monotony or lack of concentration that humans face. It can work for many hours at a stretch. It can perform the same task repeatedly on a similar or dissimilar data without any error, tiredness or boredom.

Flexibility/Multitasking: During its operation, a computer can perform multiple tasks at the same time. It allows the user to switch from one application to another at any point of time.

The digital technology has a far-reaching impact on the nature and speed of communication. With the use of computers and internet connection, data can be instantly transferred from one corner of the world to the other.

Hardware is the electro-mechanical part of a computer that is capable of computing and manipulating information, whereas software is a collection of instructions or programs which directs and coordinates the functions of computing and manipulating. Software is portable which means it can be easily moved from one device to the other, whereas hardware cannot be transferred easily from one place to the other. Hardware is easily replaceable, but software is not.

Keyboard is the standard input device. It is mainly used to type text and to send the instructions to a computer with the help of keys. Keys are the buttons on the keyboard that represent alphabets, numerics, alphanumerics and special characters. The keys can be used individually or in combination with other keys. The keyboard normally contains 101 to 108 keys.

On the cheques, the code of name of the bank, branch code and cheque number are printed with a special kind of ink containing magnetic particles or iron oxide which is scanned & read with the help of MICR and accordingly processed in the computer. A MICR code consists of nine (9) digits.

A microphone is a voice based input device. With the help of this device, sound or voice is recognized/recorded in the computer and is converted into digital form which is then played or processed by the computer.

A web camera or a webcam is a type of video camera that captures images or visuals in real-time & passes data to a computer via USB, ethernet or Wi-Fi. Web cam do not have an inbuilt storage like a digital camera.

But, with the invention of computers, extraordinary development has taken place in the field of communication and now sharing of information has become quicker and easier, irrespective of the geographical location of recipients around the globe, thereby replacing the traditional media of communication.
