Also, the album art really does the music justice. Everything about the art and album is just so dark and desolate. Love the black & white of the art and the open eye as well, I feel like that represents just opening your mind onto a train of thought and stream of consciousness!
Hey guys, I've been a long time dream theater fan and have listened to all their albums countless times. My favorite album is Train of Thought. I just love the heavier riffs and darker tones of the album. This Dying Soul, Stream of Consciousness, and In the Name of God is incredible. I don't know who screams in the middle of Name but
Train of Thought was released to success, though it didn't share its predecessor's chart position or album sales. A pre-release radio single for "As I Am" got plenty of attention, and was scrutinized by fans, who wondered if it would represent the sound of the album. Portnoy considered shooting a video for "As I Am" and releasing a single, though neither happened as he thought there was very little point, as mainstream stations such as MTV and VH1 would not play the video.

The title of the album is very well chosen, because between alcoholism, Portnoy's anger and Petrucci's love, this album is a real 'train of thoughts'!
