Yesterday I worked up the courage to slice my dear friend open, and give him a bit of a make over as an early birthday present. I forgot to take a photo of him before I started the process, so photo one is after I had already split the seam at the back of his head, and pulled out all his stuffing.
I made sure he kept some character; his nose had been smushed up for 30+ years, and I probably could have steamed the crease in his snout smooth, but I decided to leave it. His flatted nose is from being loved so hard for so long, and I wanted to keep that. And his squished nose over the years had made him less "smiley" than he looked when he was new. It made his mouth stitching sit all crooked. I always imagined him as a serious bear because of that, so I sewed him a straight mouth instead of an upturned one. We're almost 40; TenTen has seen some stuff at this point.
