I was studying Luke chapter 9 and when I came to verse 36 where I was Peter, James and John found only Jesus alone after Moses and Elijah had left signifying that Jesus was the only One who mattered, it evoked this song in my mind. It is an amazing song.
I woke up this morning with this song in my heart. And as I sing it it done on me more clearly that all I ever needed in my life as a believer is Jesus. He is my message, my Saviour, my Righteousness, my Sancifier, my Healer, my Power, my All in All and is Him am waiting for to come. All glory to Jesus for all He has done for me. Amen
The Christian and Missionary Alliance was established in 1887 by Brother A. B. Simpson. It was an alliance of Christian missionaries that sent out its members to preach the gospel. Brother Simpson was knowledgeable concerning spiritual matters. He wrote hymns such as "I am crucified with Christ, / And the cross hath set me free" (Hymns, #482), "Jesus only, Jesus ever" (Hymns, #511), and "O Lord, breathe Thy Spirit on me, / Teach me how to breathe Thee in" (Hymns, #255). His hymns are deep, and they contain spiritual experiences and spiritual values. His co-workers also had some spiritual weight, one of whom was the missionary John Woodbury, who along with his younger sister established Shou Chen Chapel in Shanghai.
We sang this song today 03/12/2019 during our office end of year retreat. First time I sang it. Indeed Jesus only is our message. What a blessed song to me as a person. Lord help me to always remember this truth.
This is a blessing and song of hope I just bumped into it in my handset hymnal and every time I listen to it am uplifted daily and see Jesus only the mighty healer saviour Redeemer and a friend ... the keyboardist big up nice tune..... @ The Ray Of Hope
Nevertheless, perfection was the only goal for me, especially when it related to planning an important event. For example, many years ago when I was helping to plan our wedding, what do you think I was aiming for? Excellence? No, perfection!
Those who trust in Christ alone as their only hope of salvation spend eternity in heaven; those who reject Christ spend an eternity in hell. (John 5:24-30; Revelation 20:11-15). The Bible denies the concept of reincarnation (Hebrews 9:27-28).
So to a Jewish audience, reading through a book that referred to the Kingdom of God over and over again would have been jarring. It would have distracted them from the message that Matthew was trying to get across. Therefore he used Heaven instead of God for the most part to remove that barrier for his Jewish audience to receiving the greater message.
But that is not the only prophecy that points to Jesus. Prophecies about the Messiah said that He would be of Jewish linage (Genesis 12:3 ESV), from the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10 ESV), of the house of David (Jeremiah 23:5-6 ESV), born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14 ESV), and born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2 ESV). He would come out of Egypt (Hosea 11:1 ESV), live in Nazareth (Isaiah 11:1 ESV), and minister in Galilee (Isaiah 9:1-2 ESV). He would speak in parables (Psalm 78:2-4 ESV), be praised (Psalm8:2), and called King (Psalm 2:6 ESV). He would be betrayed by a friend and sold for thirty pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12-13 ESV), His hands and side would be pierced (Psalm 22:16 ESV), no bones would be broken (Psalm 22:17 ESV), and He would be forsaken by God (Psalm 22:1 ESV).
The prophetic message was often a gospel message since it told of the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. The Spirit of Christ witnessed in advance about the sufferings and glories of Christ. The text indicates the prophets studied their own utterances and writings to plumb their depths. Yet according to this text, a Christ-led, Spirit-given understanding of this gospel theme was the core of the prophetic message.
I Thesalonians 4:13-18 does define the place called Heaven for the believer of Christ Jesus. In your writing you are only defining the New Jerusalem that happens after the rapture, tribulation, and Great White Throne Judgement. You fail to discuss Christ Crucified. Amen
we, the Latter-day Saints, take the liberty of believing more than our Christian brethren: we not only believe ... the Bible, but ... the whole of the plan of salvation that Jesus has given to us. Do we differ from others who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? No, only in believing more.[x]
Oneness/Jesus-only proponents will often say that this is a new revelation that came sometime during or after the Azusa Street Revival of 1906, which is generally regarded to be the birth of modern Pentecostalism.
Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these" (John 5:19,20).
The coming of Jesus Christ into the world was for the following reasons. Jesus came to provide a further revelation of God. The Old Testament was incomplete and the coming of Christ completed God's revelation. Jesus also came to fulfill promises to individuals. The Old Testament records promises made to a number of individuals that were fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus also came to fulfill the Law of Moses - He perfectly kept the commandments of the Law. Jesus also came to be the sacrifice for the sins of the world. Because He lived a sinless life He could sacrifice Himself. The coming of Christ not only fulfilled the old covenant, it also brought a new covenant into affect. Christ's coming was also to destroy the works of the devil. Christ also became an example for believers. His perfect life sets the standard. Finally, Jesus coming has prepared the way for believers to receive their new body - one without sin.
Dreams and visions are important for many of us. Some feel almost every dream is significant and they need to know the interpretation of these dreams. Some claim to receive messages from their ancestors through dreams. Perhaps they consult mediums or pastors whom they believe have the gift of interpretation. Certain dreams have traditional patterns for interpretations, while others do not. In some cases the dreamer will remember the dream until something happens to which he or she will attribute to the dream.
If God chooses to speak to a person in a dream, the message of that dream will be consistent with, and not contradict, the teachings of the Bible. Remember, the Bible is inspired by God and is sufficient for instruction (2 Timothy 3:16).
