I would like to upgrade my Mac OS from Catalina to Big Sur however I'm wondering if my Hikvision IVMS-4200 software will work? I've got Hikvision IVMS-4200 version 2.0.0.10 Build 20190625. It's been running on Mac OS Catalina v10.15.7 without issues. The Hikvision web site does not have any information on the compatibility of Big Sur with IVMS-4200. IVMS-4200 software is what I connect to my NVR to view POE cameras.

One surefire way to ensure it will continue working is to not upgrade to Big Sur until you know beyond a reasonable doubt that the vendor supports it on Big Sur. Otherwise, a fellow user would have braved a Darwin award by upgrading to Big Sur and discovering the Hikvision IVMS-4200 compatibility, one way or another.

iVMS-4200 series software tools are designed to configure and manage Hikvision devices in a unified and intuitive manner, including DVRs, NVRs, IP cameras, IPD, DVS, alarm and access control devices, and storage devices, providing functionalities like live view, playback, device parameter configuration, and more.

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help. I access iVMS-4200 application via my PC and it is showing a Firmware upgrade is available (i'm on V4.30.11 build 200803). However, when i click to upgrade i get instance pop up saying 1 devices are upgraded successfully, but on the main screen it just shows 0% downloading and never moves.

The Windows-based iVMS-4200 is a versatile client software application for Hikvision video surveillance, access control and video intercom systems. There are modules for live view, playback, event management, e-maps, attendance and smart device data reporting, such as people counting, queue analysis, heat mapping, license plate recognition and facial recognition. The client software is widely applied to small-scale projects. Each client installation is configured, maintained and operated independently. The client software is free to download and use, and support is available for free.

Hikvision are one of the larger manufacturers of CCTV solutions and they have a couple of different software packages available for camera management. The iVMS-4200 software doesn't use a central server for user management and permissions - I believe that's a feature of the higher tier professional package. Most businesses use iVMS-4200 as it's free. Any number of NVR's and cameras can be brought into iVMS and controlled directly, and it supports live monitoring and remote playback, download and still image capture.

I found that none of the previous versions of iVMS4200 would mark all the motion events on the timeline whereas, the camera web interface very nicely shows all the motion events as orange bars. Makes it easier to see at a glance where all the activity has been. Its a shame Hikvision cant duplicate this functionality in their desktop client.

I also found that at some point, I could not longer stop iVMS4200 from pre-recording on motion event. It insisted on adding a 30 second pre-record to the footage regardless of what I set in the recording advanced settings.

I am running the latest PCNVR and that has been running fine for many months and the Playback event search worked fine in the previous version of iVMS4200 so I can only conclude that the latest version of the iVMS4200 client is not finding the motion detection events properly.

The iVMS-4200 PCNVR is designed to manage the embedded network surveillance devices, such as network cameras and encoders, and provides mainly the storage and management function for the input video stream. It functions as a NVR installed on your PC, only it has not a specific hardware device and dedicated record file storage HDDs. The software cuts the complexity of the surveillance application, meeting the needs of small and medium-sized projects. With its flexible deployment schemes, the iVMS-4200 PCNVR is widely applied to the surveillance project of financial, public security, military, telecommunications, transport, electricity, education, water conservancy industries, etc.

Users with multiple Hikvision DVRs/NVRs will find iVMS-4200 most beneficial, as multiple devices may be viewed and configured from a single platform, instead of logging into the web interfaces of multiple devices. The integration of camera/recorder analytics into the software is an added bonus, as many VMSes do not support these integrations.

Those with more stringent playback/search needs will find iVMS-4200 lacks some key features, such as multi-camera export, cross-camera event searches, etc., and the potential risk of time sync issues may be a showstopper in large systems.

iVMS-4200 documentation is limited, at best. The manual contains good detail of client operations, such as live view and playback. However, information on configuration and troubleshooting (especially lesser used components, such as the Storage Server) is nearly non-existent.

It will become clear throughout this test that time sync is very important when using iVMS-4200. Because it is intended as a CMS, with numerous devices potentially recording video, it is imperative that these devices use the same time server, or synchronized playback, event video, and other functions may not work properly.

Overall, iVMS-4200's live view functions were average, with no major usability issues. Predefined layouts may be used and saved, or users may create their own custom layouts to fit specific camera combinations.

Unlike many VMSes which allow you to search for all events in a specific time period across cameras, iVMS-4200 allows event search only for one camera at a time, making investigations more difficult across multiple cameras.

iVMS-4200 includes the ability to add a "tag" to video during playback, similar to a bookmark in other VMSes. However, the tag references only one period in time, not a selectable duration, and cannot be renamed. Users may use tags to quickly find events they wish to export, but the export duration is not selectable, instead just a few minutes before and after the tag.

iVMS-4200 lacks enterprise management. Changes made in each instance of the client are not pushed to other machines. In order to synchronize users, cameras, views, and other settings, users must export a .zip file of settings and import it to the other machine.

My computer is Windows 10 running iVMS-4200 V2.6.2.7. It is connected directly into a switch. The camera is also connected directly into the switch. There is nothing else connected (no router/etc.). The camera has an internal 100GB SD card.
