Come to camp. Rest your eyes from the stupefacient glow of
electronics. Leave behind those grunting, honking beings passing you
on sidewalks and blighted highways. Give uber-tasteful museums a rest
and create your own twirly kind of art in the dance hall. At camp,
you'll have no appointments, nothing to text. You won't have to look
busy. None of that matters.
Ah, the music! Mandolin, fiddle, guitar and keyboard will mix with
happy human sounds. And the dance? There'll be swings and spins and
real California twirls. Jump into a contra, waltz, English or
international dance. People are nice, and we'll have a weekend to get
to know each other. You can also take a hike, walk the labyrinth,
paint your toenails or hide away in a secluded spot.
The centuries-old redwoods are, of course, beautiful, and a reminder
of how magnificent things can happen if we stay put for awhile--
whether it's a weekend or a thousand years.
Queer Contra Dance Camp will be here as long as we make it happen
together. Please join us.
Scholarships and work exchange are available.
