First tournament of the year!
Whacking Day is an annual two day indoor ultimate frisbee tournament held in Dublin, this year on the 16th-17th October. It's specifically for beginners and is a great way to be introduced to the sport. There will lots of new Ultimate players there from all across Ireland and its a great way to get make some new friends and have some fun.
Queens have entered an unprecedented 2 teams in this tournament! We will be heading down on the Friday night to the Welcome Party in the Slipper. One of the Dublin College University (DCU) folks will be putting us up for both nights. We will play matches on the Saturday then head to the party at Messers in the city centre. The theme of the party is "Groups, Gangs, Bands and Duos", and there will be a prize or two for the best dressed team. We will play our final games on the Sunday and head back to Belfast late afternoon.
If you are new to the sport and want to see Ultimate in its essence there really is no substitute for going away to a tournament!
Also, everyone from the team should come to this, not just beginners. The beginner rule for the tournament is that 4 beginners and 1 experienced player must be on the pitch. If this rule is putting some experienced players off, I want you to know I'll be giving 2nd year players more pitch time than 3rd and 4th years, and also it will be a good social event too so do come!
