Indoor Intervarsities

Hey guys, just getting the details of the next tournament up nice and quick so you can keep/get it free if you plan on coming. Indoor Intervarsities are in Cork this year, it’s a one day tournament on the 20^th Nov. We will be driving down late afternoon Friday and getting back on Saturday night. Probably cost £20 or something close.

I've entered one team into this, with the option of a 2nds team - so plenty of spots available. I’ll gauge interest at training and we’ll go from there!

We're going to have a Queens 1sts and 2nds at Indoor IVs. If you want to play on Queens1 try and get to as many training sessions as possible and earn your place! The goal for Queens1 is to win the damn thing, although I'll be happy with top 4 but the main thing is we have a winning mentality! Queens 2 your job is to win our second Plate of the year!

 

We're looking to "take some scalps" at this tournament, there's some great teams out there we've never beaten before and I think with the progress we're making we can beat them and make them cry :'(

We'll have to pick squad numbers so I can at least reply to them. Starting now...

Captains,

Just a reminder again about squad numbers.

As we are running a tournament MVP (in each division, open & womens), we are going to be taking down every score and assist.

To accomplish this we need all players to have identifiable number marked on their person. If this means spray painting a number onto a red/white/blue or whatever your team colour t shirt is, then so be it.

The sooner we get the squad lists the better, thanks.

It is likely to be called. Its unworkable when you're just outside the end-zone though.

FYI - if everyone has some free time before we leave, try and read the rules (if you haven't already) - especially the Spirit of the Game section. Expect to be called on little things at the weekend and don't get annoyed when this happens as its part of the rules, just get on with it.

Wee report regarding Queens 2 at inter-varsities:

The excursion to Cork was a great first tournament for Queen's 2. It was the first time QUB was able to field two full squads, with the seconds being primarily manned by beginners. We had a blow to our confidence after bombing our first game, but pulled it back to win 3/5 games.
Two epic battles formed the backbone of our tournament, the most remarkable of which was the final of the Paper Plate which went two points beyond the hooter. We finished up a point ahead to snag the...paperware?
Yarr!

I'll be nice and not mention that we ended up only two places behind QUB1... =P
