Hi! This is a reminder and an enthusiastic invitation to join Brad, and the QSY community this Sunday for a Free Flow Yoga class followed by a vegetarian potluck! For the potluck, please list the ingredients of your dish, and please bring a plate and cutlery! Homemade or store bought is fine! We just want to eat with you! If the weather is awesome, we can take it to the park and do it as a picnic! The Flow class is at 4pm and is open to everyone! The Potluck will be at 5:30.

1) Restorative Yoga with Brad: May 31st, 5:30-7:30pm - Anxiety Cost: $25 Anxiety is a psychological and physiological state characterized by cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components. These components combine to create an unpleasant feeling that is typically associated with uneasiness, perceived fear, or worry. Join Brad for 2 full hours as we restore your body, lighten your mood, gratify your senses and abolish tension.
2) Breathe Well Be Well, Buteyko Breathing with Chris Bauman: Friday, June 5th, 7-9pm Cost: $30.00 A workshop for those interested in fun and playful ways to improve your general breathing health, deal with stressful situations on the spot, and reduce the impact of allergens. Focus is on breath/emotion connection, breathing exercises, body awareness, posture and vocalizations. Come ready to jump in, learn and enjoy yourself.
We are happy to welcome back Chris for the third year of teaching this workshop here at QSY. Her energy, enthusiasm, wit and caring make her workshop totally enjoyable and accessible. Her extensive training and teachings in the Buteyko Breathing method make this workshop invaluable for anyone looking for better health and vitality. 3) Your Body, Your Truth: Exploring the wisdom of the body through awareness and movement With Lauren Clarke, MSW: June 20th, 2009 2-5pm Cost: $35 During this afternoon workshop, you will move your body, share with others your truth in the moment, and gain more clarity on what your body has to teach you. We will experiment together using a variety of verbal and non-verbal exercises to feel our full range of aliveness. You are invited to come ready to move with and without music, through body and words.
Lauren Clarke, MSW, lives and works in Toronto and provides psychotherapy for groups and individuals seeking healing and growth. Lauren is a registered 5Rhythms Movement Therapy facilitator, and has been practicing Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms movement practice for over eight years across North America. Lauren draws upon her love of movement, self-reflection and joy to create a vibrant, dynamic, grounded space for healing and play.
4) Yoga on Father's Day! Are you looking for a fun way to spend some time with your Dad on Father's Day? Why not take him to Leena's Community Class on Sunday the 21st at 1pm! It is open to beginners and you will both have a great time. The cost is by donation, so it will fit into your gift giving budget. If you are a Dad, we salute you! Bring your family and then stop off at one of the many great restaurants in downtown. (If you need tips, ask Meaghan about her favourite places to eat!)
5) Yoga Teacher Training Are you dreaming about becoming a yoga teacher, or just wanting to really understand yoga more deeply to make it your own? We really encourage you to consider the Yoga Teacher Training that Meaghan and Kristin will be offering with Hart Lazer starting in September. If you are worried that you are not ready, or that it will be too tough, please contact Meaghan and she will be happy to chat with you about your concerns. This is really a program about growth and exploration, and learning the skills to share your love of yoga with others if you choose to. All of the teachers at QSY have trained with Hart. Ask around about their experiences, think about if it is right for you!
6) A Yoga and Meditation Getaway with Meaghan Johnson and Nancy Schaeffer Take a real break this summer with a weekend of Yoga, Meditation and Mindful Walking at the Soul Garden Retreat Centre in Fergus! You will be nourished with great food, hot tubs, and time for swinging in the hammocks or swims in the gorge. We will enjoy an evening's entertainment with musician Charlena Russel performing and inviting us to join in on singing around the campfire.
This weekend includes: 8 hours of Yoga 3.5 hours of Meditation and Mindful Movement Brunch and Snacks both days Evening Entertainment with Charlena Russel Time for Hot Tub, Hammocks, Garden, Swimming, Exploring Fergus and Elora Treat yourself and join us this fun and relaxing weekend away together!
Cost: Residential (room two nights, breakfast and lunch Sat. and Sun.) $350 plus GST Non-Residential (breakfast and lunch included Sat. and Sun.) $280 plus GST. The retreat centre is only 40min drive from Kitchener. On Saturday night we will go to a wonderful Indian restaurant in downtown Fergus. Please budget $20 for the meal. Payment Plans are available.
7) Summer of Unlimited Yoga Spread the Word! We will be offering our Summer of Unlimited Yoga again this year! The Unlimited pass will begin July 1st and end August 31st. The cost is $125. We will have more classes on the schedule than last year to provide more choice! Dive into your practice this summer and feel fantastic! If you already have a pass the runs into July, or need to buy a pass to get you through June, we will put it on hold July 1st and it will be re-started September 1st.
8) Events at QSY hosted by groups in the community On Friday June 12th at 7pm Leah Carnahan, visiting yoga teacher from B.C. will be running a workshop called: "The Art of Walking", for more info please contact her at leahca...@hotmail.com

9) Pattabhi Jois Pattabhi Jois, founder of the Ashtanga Yoga Method of Yoga passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Monday May 18th. Pattabhi was a big part of the resurgence of the asana practice Yoga, and of Yoga becoming popular in the West. Many of the teachers at QSY have their roots in the Ashtanga Method. So, this week we will be taking time to reflect on our gratitude for the teachers who have made yoga accessible to us in our lives. Many classes this week will be be based on the Ashtanga method in honour of Pattabhi and his work.
