Queen Street Yoga Newsletter

Happy Summer Days to You! This Newsletter will be short and sweet, so you can get back to this amazing weather!

In This Newsletter:
1) New Intro to Yoga Class
2) Beat the HST!
3) Get ready for a Summer of Unlimited Yoga!
4) Cool Workshops in the K-W area with Ken McLeod and Kristin Honey
5) Note from Meaghan in Sabbatical Land

1) Intro to Yoga with Kymberley
Learn how to do yoga in an effective and safe way for your body.  This class will prepare you for our Level One and Open Level classes.  Please spread the word of the new Intro to your friends and family!

Wednesdays, 7:45pm starting June 2nd.  Runs for 8 weeks. $100

2) Beat the HST
We highly recommend buying an extra pass if you would like to beat the HST increase!  We will attach your pass to your current one and then just add the expiry date of 4 months when you start to use it. Yes, Yoga will be affected by the HST, so there will be a small increase in the cost of passes as of July 1st.  We are just working out the new costs, and will post mid-June.  We really wish we didn't have to!

3) Summer of Unlimited Yoga is back!
Woo hoo! We will be offering the $125 (plus tax) pass for two months of unlimited yoga again this summer! The deal begins July 1st. However, if you want to buy the pass before then, you will beat the HST.

Price before July 1st: $131.25
Price after July 1st $141.25

Both are great deals!  We look forward to seeing you lots this summer! The July-August Schedule will be online by June 15th! Your current pass will be put on hold for the summer and reactivated in the fall.

We will be open Thursday July 1st (Canada day) with the following schedule:
12-1pm Open Level with Meaghan
1-2pm Restorative with Meaghan
7:45 Level 1 with Leena

4) Cool Workshops
Ken McLeod, meditation teacher of many of the QSY teachers, will be leading a workshop in June, right here in Waterloo! You do not need to have meditation experience to get benefit out of this weekend.  The topic is Relationship and Conflict, the dates are June 18th-20th and there are still spots available.  For more info see: http://www.wrdharmacentre.com/events.html

Kristin Honey, my good yoga friend and colleague will be teaching some Yoga in the Ropes workshop in the beautiful Soul Garden Retreat Centre in Fergus. http://www.kristinhoneyyoga.com/main.html

5) A note from Meaghan
Hello sweet people.  Here is a note from my time being off. Here is where I say all is bliss and  I am discovering my true inner essence, as I take time to unwind and unpack my life...  But, I think many of you know me by now.

This break is a lot of what I thought it would be, with homemade meals eaten in the evening (as opposed to 10pm post teaching!), long walks, and I am rocking the pottery wheel almost everyday.  But in this down time I also had a bad cold, some emotional breakthroughs, and maybe a little too much time to think about myself!

I am trying to stay in a place of not knowing, of not making big plans, of not distracting myself with the excitement of what will be the Next Big Thing!  Taking a break within my own mind is definitely more of a challenge than taking a break from working.

I am a bit excited, however, for this weekend as I am headed off to Kripalu, a Yoga centre I stayed at 10 years ago, when I was 22 and have not been back to since.  I will be taking a workshop with Bonnie Bainbridge-Coehn, who has been teaching movement and body-mind centring since the 70s. The workshop is on movement and voice, and I am excited to sing. I am also stoked for the solo road trip. (Thanks to Merle who has given me a GPS to help me out!)

On this little break, two books I have been reading that I really recommend are: Donna Farhi's Bringing Yoga to Life, and Thomas Moore's Dark Nights of the Soul. Both are real, down to earth, grist for the mill books.  They are feeding my soul and keeping me on track!

I hope your spring is going well, and you are enjoying your yoga and your life! I will see you in July, if not beforehand on the streets of KW.

Yours,
Meaghan
