1) Book Club!
We are so pleased to have Mandy Brouse join us from Words Worth Books to facilitate our first QSY Book Club. The Queen Street Yoga Book Club offers an engaged and active community interested in how insightful books apply to your life. Not your average book club, this group is open to everyone who values transformational reading and the art of conversation.
Dates: Thursdays Jan 27th, Feb 24th and March 31st, at 7:30pm
Cost: By donation. Please email us to let us know you are coming.

January's Book: The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion by Christopher Germer (Jan)

Books will be available for purchase at QSY and Words Worth Books at least 4 weeks prior to the club meeting. Books to follow are:
How to Be an Adult in Relationships by David Richo (Feb)
Mind in the Balance by Alan B. Wallace (Mar)

2) The Joy of Singing with Jane Lewis
I am really looking forward to this class, and look forward to singing with those of you who want to sing! Singing can lift your spirits, reduce stress, build confidence, and strengthen your immune system. It's good medicine, and good fun. For six weeks we will meet and join our voices in sound and song. Each night, a vocal tip or new exercise will be introduced. Over the course of the workshop, we'll work on a repertoire of songs, learning melodies and harmony parts. Most importantly, we'll share in the heart-warming experience of singing together. No experience necessary.
Thursday Jan 20th to February 24th (6 weeks) 6-7:30pm. Cost: Early Bird - $125 (register and pay by Jan 13th), $132.75 plus HST ($150) (after Jan 13th)

3) Meditation
Are you feeling the need to sit? Learn how to be present, release tension, build your capacity to deal with stress and at the same time open your heart to yourself and others.

Intro to BodyMind Meditation with Nancy, Wednesdays 7:30-8:30pm, Jan 12th - Mar 2nd
Intro to Buddhist Meditation with Kunga, Tuesdays 6-7pm, Jan 18th- March 8th

Intros are 8 weeks and $96. Absolute beginners welcome

Continuing Your Practice of Meditation with Nancy, Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00 pm Jan 26th - March 2nd 6 weeks $84

Prerequisite: Beginning meditation class at QSY or similar previous experience

In this class we will continue to practice the fundamental skills of concentration, sensory clarity and equanimity.  After a brief review of focusing on the breath and the body we will explore Shinzen Young’s Five Ways to Know Yourself as a Spiritual Being:  Focus In (know yourself as a sensory system), Focus Out (know others as yourself), Focus on Rest (know yourself as serenity and contentment) Focus on Change (know yourself as spirit and source) and Focus on Positive (know yourself as goodness).

4) Runners Yoga with Tyandra
This class is taught by an athlete, for athletes. Tyandra's class helps strong fit bodies become more supple and flexible, increasing range of motion. Also aiding in preventing and treating injuries.

Mondays at 6pm, starting Jan 17th. 8 weeks, $120.

5) Parent and Peanut
Do you know a new mom who could use some relaxation and community? Please let them know about our Parent and Peanut class!

Parent and Peanut Yoga with Julie, Wednesdays 11am-12:15pm Jan 19th - Feb 23rd 6 weeks $96

6) Yoga at the Clay and Glass Gallery with Meaghan
Join Meaghan to explore relaxation, embodiment and presence through yoga, meditation and art! This time we will hold this workshop in the beautiful Clay and Glass Gallery space.  The first two workshops at the KWAG were a great experience, and we are so happy to have a new gallery to bring it to! The info is not on their site yet, but email me if you want to join this workshop and I will send you the link to register as soon as it is up!

Sunday January 30th, 11am-1pm: $25 plus HST

7) Home Practice 2 Part Workshop with Meaghan
If you are trying to practice at home, but finding it difficult then this is the workshop for you. This workshop will be helpful for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. In this new 2 part format, we will sort through our obstacles and develop a practice plan in the first workshop, and in the second workshop we will bring up questions and refine our practice based on our week's experience.

Thursdays 7:45-9:15pm Feb 3rd and 10th: $45

8) Fundraisers
In February, Meaghan will be teaching at two fundraisers, we hope you can join us for one or both!

Feb 26th: Yoga for Hope. A full day of Yoga with local teachers in support of Hope Spring Cancer Support Centre. http://yogaforhope.ca

Feb 27th: Power of Movement Mega Session. One hour Yoga class with QSY and Moksha Yoga raising funds for Arthritis Research and Awareness. http://powerofmovement.ca/register/mega_sessions/details/

9) Meet the new QSY teachers!
We welcome Danette, Myriam and Emma to the teaching staff in January. I am really excited about the wealth of experience these three women bring. To learn more about these teachers, please see click here: http://queenstreetyoga.com/teachers.html
