We are already deep into the fall, planning our programming and expanding our vision for where yoga, meditation and the practice of embodiment will take us! And I am soooo excited! Check out these exciting August events and a sneak peak at what is coming up in September!

1) Embodying our Experience of Art with Meaghan at the KW Art Gallery
Thursday August 26th, 6:30-8:30pm. $25/person plus HST. Minimum of 12 participants, maximum of 15. Register through the Gallery: http://www.kwag.ca/en/programs/artsoul.asp

This two hour workshop will begin in KW|AG's new program space with yoga and meditation practice; stretching, releasing stress and building the capacity to be present in our physical body. We will take our embodied awareness and explore the exhibitions through a self-guided walk.  Through this experiment of sense and physical awareness, we may deepen our capacity to be present with ourselves, and also start to see art and art galleries as a place of refuge, learning and playgrounds of experience. The evening will conclude with a sharing of experiences.

2)Sparks Symposium: August 14th-16th
Lindsay will be bringing her yoga teaching to the Sparks Symposium, a weekend of workshops and classes concerning health and spirit, right next door at the Walper!  If you are interested in this event, the line up looks pretty awesome!  Please visit: http://www.sparkssymposium.ca/

3) Happy Birthday to all of us!
Wow! This September will mark the 5th Year Anniversary of QSY.  5 Years! 5 years of stretching and sweating and breathing and moving, of sitting still and being, of being TOGETHER on this path.  I would like to offer a free class, as a tiny token of my gratitude to all of you for making this happen. Following will be a potluck. Bring whatever you like to offer to the meal.

This day is still in the works, and I will bring more details to the next newsletter. For now, save the date! Sunday September 26th: Yoga class 3-5pm (all levels); potluck 5pm - whenever!

8) A note from Meaghan:
Hello! So, I went from Sabbatical to full on work while Lindsay took her time to study with Michael Stone and Susan Richardson in Toronto for the month of July.  To read about some of her experiences you can check out her Blog at: http://missherbasshifts.blogspot.com/

It has been wonderful to get back to work, I have been doing a lot of dreaming and thinking about how I want the studio to grow, where we can take these skills of embodiment and presence and really play and have fun with them.  So, one dream is to teach in an art gallery and it is happening!  Another is to offer more creative classes at the studio, so look for some offerings of contemporary dance and Life Art classes in the next newsletter.

I also realized in my time off that I need some space from teaching to really be able to explore my own practice deeply and to put more energy into the growing community of QSY. To do this, for a while I will be scaling back my teaching to once a week, Monday nights at 6:00 and let the other fabulous teachers at QSY start to have some prime time teaching slots.  I am really excited especially for Lindsay to bring her new knowledge to the Level 2 class on Tuesdays and for Kunga to join the evening teaching on Monday nights at 7:45!

The same great quality of teaching will continue, as usual, at QSY.  I am so thankful for the strength of this community, both in the dedication of the teachers, and in the dedication and enthusiasm of all of you practicing and growing with yoga and meditation.

Yours,
Meaghan and the QSY crew.
