2) Meditation Teacher Change
Kunga is off on his ocean bound adventure. He will be back in the fall full of inspiration and stories! In the mean time, Lindsay will be taking over Yoga and Meditation on Fridays for the month of April. Nancy Schaeffer will be joining the QSY staff to teach the Meditation Drop-in, and we are so excited to welcome her and her wealth of experience to this class. Whether you are brand new to meditation, or an experienced sitter, all will benefit from Nancy's teachings.

Here is a bit more about Nancy:
Nancy first learned to meditate during a 7-week yoga teacher training in 1971. In the years that followed, she kept practicing asanas but often ran away from the cushion. About 15 years ago she began to get more serious and now calls herself a meditator. Nancy is a graduate of the Professional and Advanced Trainings of the Centre for Mind Body Medicine in Washington, DC, and is a certified practitioner of Body-Mind Centering and Integral Therapy. She was Program Director at HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre for almost nine years and is also author of The Body Means Well: Empowered Healing.

3) Yoga Abs with Anna-Marie
Stabilizing the interwoven muscles of the abdomen has positive impact on the spine, helps prevent back pain and reduces shoulder strain. Learning to move from a stable core encourages a deep connection with the body. This is a two hour class open to all levels, and will end with a restorative savasana. "The trunk not only houses the bulk of the organs, but also provides a muscular fulcrum around which movement occurs. Simply put, the belly is our core." Judith Lasater, Ph.D, P.D.
Sunday April 4th, 1:30-3:30pm
Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

4) Hart Lazer returns in April!
Due to bad weather, Hart was not able to join us in February, which is actually good news for those of you who were not able to do it in February! The new dates are: April 14th-16th, 5:30-7:30pm, the cost is still $126 for all three days, or come to just one of the sessions for $47.25. The topic is Backbends, Inversions and Deep Silence. This a wonderful opportunity to deepen your practice, and to learn from our teachers' teacher. If you are thinking of joining out teacher training program, this is a good opportunity to meet Hart and see if you want to take further studies with him.

5) Restorative Yoga: Endocrine System (Hormonal System)
Restorative yoga works on you, rather than you working in the pose. This supported practice allows for long holds in the poses, which has a deeper effect on the organ and nervous systems of the body. The feedback we are receiving from these workshop is that you will get more relaxed than you knew was possible! Come and experience it!
April 26th, 5:30-7:30pm
Cost $25

6) Go Deeper and YTT Prep
This class is open to all Level 1-2 students (or talk to Meaghan to see if it is right for you). Many of you mentioned that coming every week would be helpful for you, and some of you mentioned that every other week works well. So the next session will be a mix of both, taking us to July, and then we will take a break for the summer. Please take note as the weeks in April are two weeks apart to make room for Hart being here.
Wednesdays 7-9pm: April 8th, and 29th; every week in May (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th); June 3rd and 17th
8 classes in total. Cost: $160.

7) Yoga and Weight Loss II with Brad and Nancy
This workshop is for people who are struggling with body and weight loss issues and will interest anyone wanting to be more mindful and joyful in their journey toward health. This is the second Yoga and Weight Loss workshop, and Brad and Nancy are bringing new information based on feedback from the the first workshop. It is open, however, to everyone, all levels. Brad will lead you through Yoga asana sequences that stimulate specific systems in the body that are responsible for hormonal balance and overall strength. Nancy will instruct on basic Mindfulness as well as Mindful eating, exploring eye hunger, nose hunger, mouth hunger, stomach hunger, cellular hunger, mind hunger, and heart hunger.

9) Yoga Teacher Training Changes
Due to feedback from students, we have changed the format of the YTT and have taken out the 12 day intensive in the summer and instead are adding 5 more weekend workshops. So, if you would like to deepen your understanding of yoga and gain the tools to share your love of yoga with others, please consider this wonderful opportunity! We are just finalizing the dates and will send them out soon to those interested. It will be one weekend a month over ten months starting in September.

Queen Street Yoga in the Community:
As a studio we are constantly looking for ways to be more integrated in our community, and we jump at chances to teach in interesting places and with all sorts of people! Here are some of the fun ways we have got to teach lately:

- Anna-Marie and Meaghan teaching at a Yoga Club for teachers and Students at Rockway Mennonite High School
- Lindsay teaching a group of performers from STOMP (who performed at Centre in the Square)
- Meaghan teaching a group of expelled teenagers through the school board expulsion program

We hope you are enjoying the spring.
See you at the studio!

Nameste,
Meaghan and the QSY teachers
