1) Happy Birthday to all of us!
Wow! This September will mark the 5th Year Anniversary of QSY.  5 Years! 5 years of stretching and sweating and breathing and moving, of sitting still and being, of being TOGETHER on this path.  I would like to offer a free class, as a tiny token of my gratitude to all of you for making this happen. Following will be a potluck, bring whatever you like to offer to the meal.

Sunday September 26th: yoga class 3:00-3:30pm, meditation 3:45-5pm, potluck 5pm - whenever!  We are working on live musicians to entertain us through dinner! Feel to come to any part of this event.

2) QSY 2nd Annual Yoga and Meditation Retreat

With a full weekend together, we will have the time to do long yoga practices, and go deeper into enquiries about our bodies and minds. With embodied presence we will enjoy and be nurtured by delicious vegetarian food, time in the hot tub and sauna, and an evening of singing with local musician Charlena Russel. In this nurturing environment, we can engage, both with our inner world, and with each other, taking advantage of this weekend of being in community. Join us for this nurturing and testful weekend in in a gorgeous, fully equipped yoga studio and retreat centre. We will be going out Saturday night for dinner in downtown Fergus.

6) Contemporary Dance Class for Adults with Kymberley
Tuesdays, 9:30-11:00am, September 24th- November 2nd
$120, includes HST
Ok! I must admit I added this class to the schedule because I am in love with Contemporary Dance and want to take the class!  I have found that studying with Kym has added a depth and creativity to how I move my body, and also increased my flexibility and fitness! It is also sooo much fun to move in the studio this way, and listen to great music!

Our Contemporary Dance class will include a movement warm-up, continuing with a playful approach to building the body's capacity to move consciously and dynamically. Class time will also be given to exploring a personal creative process through creative movement exercises. This class is suitable for beginners as well as those with a dance background, all that is required is a playful approach and the willingness to move.

7) Yoga and Meditation for Stress and Trauma with Hart Lazer
This is some of the best work I have ever done with Hart (teacher of many of the QSY teachers). Through this workshop I felt some real shifts in understanding myself and also dealing with stress in my life.  Please feel free to ask me questions if you are considering this workshop and want to know more.

November 5-7, 2010: Workshop 1
We all have an individualized code for holding tension and stress.
Establish a skillful understanding of your own body’s code and its messages regarding stress and trauma; develop strengths and tools through yoga and meditation in order to build your capacity and be present with these experiences.
Location:  Queen Street Yoga, Kitchener

February 11-13, 2011: Workshop 2 (pre-requisite, 1st workshop or equivalent)
Explore the inner dialogue between our woundedness and its connections to our daily thought processes, our chronic body pain and tension which often masks depression. Through asana and meditation discover how feelings such as guilt, betrayal and lack of self acceptance are held in your body/mind complex. Develop skills to look at and step out of these deeply held body patterns and beliefs.
Location:  Temple Studios, Guelph

Cost:
Individual Workshops: early bird $295 + HST  (by October 15, 2010); late registration $350 + HST (after October 15, 2010)

Both Workshops: early bird $575 + HST (by October 15, 2010); late registration $625 + HST (after October 15, 2010)

10) A Note from Meaghan
Thanks for making it all the way to the end of this newsletter. It really seems to me that the seeds we have been planting at QSY, the seeds of embodiment, health, mindfulness and community, are really taking root and flowering.  And this fall feels like the beginning of harvest, where we will continue to be nurtured by these practices, and also celebrate and grow together.  That is, from my perspective, what it feels like.

How are you feeling?

That is one of the questions I want to ask you this fall.  As you may already know, I will be teaching on Mondays this fall, and taking the rest of my time to work on development of the studio and also diving deeper into my own practice.  One of my projects will be to survey the studio, to find out why you do yoga, why with us, what are your looking for, and how can we help you.  So, if you wish, start thinking about that (but, not during your yoga practice ;)

The Yoga at the Gallery workshop was such a dream come true.  It just happened last night, and I am still floating on air. I was so inspired by the openness of the participants, and the feedback they gave of their experiences.  Imagine a dozen people, all relaxed, embodied, present, out and about in the gallery with soft receptive eyes, and grounded felt experience, and BARE FEET, and quiet, no analyzing, just seeing.

Here are 3 blog posts about it!

I really hope to see you at the our 5th Birthday Celebration!

Yours,
Meaghan and the QSY crew.
