Dear Queen Street Yogi,
We hope this email finds you somewhere warm and cozy, maybe near a sunlit window. We are feeling the warmth at the studio, having upped the insulation in our studio walls, and we have a new programmable thermostat that makes the studios toasty for class time.
First off, I want to mention something we just added, by request, for Valentine's Day:
Partner Yoga with Lindsay
Join us Sunday February 14th to enjoy an afternoon opening up your body, and connecting with a friend, family member or sweetheart in the fun and playful practice of partner Yoga. Lindsay will lead you through two hours of poses that will both challenge and soothe the body and mind, open your heart and get you laughing. A great way to beat the February blahs, we hope to see you there!
$40 for two people. Taxes included.

The Rest and Restore Class every Wednesday at 6pm with Meaghan has become a hit! Join us for stress reduction, settling of the nervous system, working with menstrual cramps, recovering from illness. It is also good as well for those who just want to move a slower pace. The longer holds allow for a deeper release of the connective tissue and will add greatly to your flexibility. If you are trying to practice at home, but finding it hard to get motivated, or are unsure of what to do, what time of day, or just find that there are many obstacles in the way of getting onto your mat, then this is the workshop for you. This workshop will be helpful for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. Whether you have never practiced at home, already do but want to do so more, or used to but have been away from your mat for a while, I hope to inspire, and motivate and support you on your journey of home practice.
Why have a home practice? To me, home practice is the meat of yoga. Class is where I come for community, inspiration and challenge. My daily home practice is where I get to come home to myself, learn and open to who and how i am, as well as do the poses that are specifically how i want to open my body. Home practice at first for me was a great struggle, and now is a total joy some days, and basic maintenance on others, but always with me.
6) Healthy Living Day at The Children's Museum
Join us March 7th at The Museum, right around the corner from the Studio! We will be offering Kids Yoga and Yoga for Office. As well there is a whole day of Healthy Living workshops. You might also want to check out the Body Exhibit.
7) Yoga For Hope: February 27th
8) A Note from Meaghan
This has been a heartbreaking month, as we watch, hear and witness from afar the tragedy of Haiti. For me I find it easy to fall into the trap of feeling first overwhelmed and then helpless and then numb when listening to the news of tragedy. And none of these responses are particularly useful for me or for anyone else. I think what I must do is work to keep my heart open, to not shut down to the sensation of heartbreak in the body. To not just throw money at it and hope it goes away, and yet, also to be generous when money is needed. I also believe, not knowing why or how, that dedicating our practice, and holding prayers in our heart also helps, if not the situation, then our own minds in dealing with it. I invite you to stay open with me as the world struggles to deal with this and other sufferings.
In the words of Leonard Cohen: "Ring the bells that still will ring, forget your perfect offering, there's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in."
For the month of February, all donations from the Community Class on Thursday nights at 7:30 with be sent to Haitian relief efforts. Following February, we will be choosing a different community organization to dedicate the proceeds of this class. Stay tuned.
Nameste,
Meaghan
