4) Rise Up Dancing Movement Workshop with Lauren Clarke
Saturday January 30th 1-4pm (subsidies available upon request)

Join this afternoon workshop to explore rising up in movement to meet each moment again and again. We will celebrate together our unique dances while being attentive and aware of thoughts, feelings, and impulses that rise up to inspire and overwhelm us. You are invited to come ready to move with and without music, through body and words, through verbal and non-verbal practice.

Lauren Clarke, MSW, lives and works in Toronto and provides psychotherapy for groups and individuals seeking healing and growth. Lauren is a 5Rhythms Movement Therapy facilitator, who has been practicing Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms Movement practice for over eight years across North America. Lauren is currently in the Gestalt Institute Training Program. Lauren draws upon her love of movement, self-reflection, and joy to create a vibrant, dynamic, grounded space for healing and play.

5) Restorative Yoga Workshops with Brad
Once a month on Sundays 5:30-7:30pm. Cost: $25 for individual classes or $85 for all 4.

January 31st : Finding Joy!

* March 28th: Bolstering the Immune System

And of course, there is now the Rest and Restore Class every Wednesday at 6pm with Meaghan. This class is great for stress reduction, settling the nervous system, working with menstrual cramps, recovering from illness, as well as for those who just want to move at a slower pace.  The longer holds also allow for a deeper release of the connective tissue and will add greatly to your flexibility.  I highly recommend it as a balance to your more vigorous practice!

8) A Note from Meaghan

Hello Queen Street Yogi,
As I reflect on the past year, I realize this was a great one for Queen Street Yoga!  We are well into our 4th year of community and stretching together, and it feels like we are growing up a little.  We had our first full weekend retreat at the Soul Garden Retreat Centre, which was a blast and we hope to repeat it this August.  We also began our Yoga Teacher Training program and are a third of the way through it already!  For me this has been amazing, to get to go deeper with a dedicated group of Yogis.  All of the participants are excelling and, I hope, having fun along the way.  I am excited to welcome this new group of teachers in the spring! I have also had the opportunity to teach with Bridges to Health this year, a day program for women in recovery from addictions.

Nancy, Catherine and Leena joined out teaching staff this year, enriching QSY with their skills, experience and warmth.

Brad and Anna-Marie have headed back to school to expand their skills with training in massage therapy and counseling respectively.

Tyandra also became a school teacher this year!

Lindsay is now working at the studio full time, and keeping the place running smoothly, and giving me some much needed time and space to practice and dream and teach the YTT.

Julie continues to support mothers to be with prenatal yoga.

Kunga took his 4 month sabbatical and joined us again this fall, fresh and full from his experience.

Lauren Clarke has started to join us bi-monthly with creative movement workshops, bringing music and dance and often laughter to our journeys of self discovery, knowledge and health.

And there is likely a story within each of you of what has happened, changed, grown, or fallen away for you this year.  And the studio is shaped by all of your experiences as well.  I feel so lucky that we get to have this space to grow together in.

I wish you all of the best in 2010, see you soon!

Nameste,
Meaghan
