1) Summer Unlimited Pass! Please spread the word!
I am excited to once again have our hot summer special of Unlimited Yoga for $125 (plus HST, so it comes to $141.25). We look forward to seeing you often this summer, taking advantage of the opportunity to do all the yoga you wish from July 1st-August 31st. If you have a pass that is current, we will put it on hold and then reactivate the pass in September. There are classes every day of the week this summer, so that you can make full use of your pass!

Please pass on this email to any friends or coworkers or family members you think would like to jump into yoga this summer with this great deal. We really appreciate your help in spreading the word!

2) Schedule Changes
Mediation Drop-in will be at 7:30pm on Tuesdays starting July 6th.
Mondays will be a 6pm Open Level Class (no 7:45 class)
The Wednesday 6pm Restorative Class will be on pause for the summer
The Friday Noon-1pm Open Level and 1-2pm Restorative will be on Thursdays as of July 1st

Otherwise, the rest of the schedule is the same for the summer! See the summer schedule on the website: http://www.mjyoga.com/schedule_summer.html Please note that each of our teachers will be taking time off this summer, so classes will sometimes have substitutes (other great QSY teachers). The sub list will be posted at the studio, and online soon.

3) New Parent and Peanut Class
Starts July 7th with Julie. July 7th- August 25th: no class on July 14th and August 11th. $85 (+HST)

4) QSY Retreat: Embody and Enjoy, October 15-17th
Save the date of October 15-17th if you would like to join us for our 2nd Yoga and Meditation weekend retreat. Our first one last spring was an amazing experience. Lindsay and I are really excited to be able to share this experience with you again. Our focus will be on being embodied in our experience, open with our senses and relaxed and ok with whatever arises.

With this sense of presence we hope to take you through a weekend of enjoyment. Enjoying movement through restorative and active yoga, sound and singing, good food and wonderful company. We will also enjoy the beautiful studio at Soul Garden Retreat Centre and the surrounding environment of Fergus.

I am just sorting out the cost, and will post it soon. We can only take 15 people on this retreat, so if you know already you would like to come, let me know.

5) Reminder of the HST
Just a reminder that there will be a slight change in our prices. We did lower our base prices a little to try to help with this transition. As always, if are in financial difficulties please speak to me, as we do offer subsidies! We would rather you be at yoga than not be there due to financial restraints! http://www.mjyoga.com/fees.html

6) Cool Yoga Event
Yoga Festival Toronto is a really great non-corporate yoga festival. This year our friend Kristin Honey will be teaching at it, along with many other great Yoga teachers from Ontario. Check out the site at http://www.yocoto.org/yftweekend.html If there is a group of QSY students who would like to go, we could perhaps arrange a caravan and go together!

7) Notes from QSY teachers Kunga, Leena and Meaghan

Kunga:
I am very excited to be studying this fall at the College of International Holistic studies in Milton. I am taking a course in Acupuncture. I visited the campus last week and met some of the teachers, and I feel a real connection with the place and the people there. I am excited to deepen my knowledge of the human form and condition, and expect to gain a deeper understanding of yoga poses from the anatomy portion of the class, if not from the entire course in general. I look forward to learning new ways to help people heal and find balance in their lives.

I feel energized by the warmth and sunshine, and all the greenery around me. And my new dog Maggie is a joyful inspiration in my life and practice.

I am attending a ten day meditation retreat in August as well, which I am really looking forward to.

I am excited about the Meditation drop-in class with its new later time slot which will hopefully make it more accessible to people.

I will also be teaching yoga on a cruise through the Caribbean for a week in February. What a great time to thaw and stretch out in the sun.

I look forward to practicing with you all.

Muchos Metta,
Kunga

Leena:
This spring I graduated from UW with a B.A. Honours degree in Cultural Anthropology and presented an honours thesis entitled, “Embodying Yoga: Experiences and Interpretations of a Transformative Practice.” It was an enormous pleasure to bring together my passions of yoga and anthropology in this project! I have also been continuing in the enriching journey of studying Anusara Yoga. I have now completed all the requirements for Anusara-Inspired Yoga Teacher licensing, including 100 hours of immersion studies, and my application is being reviewed this month. Since graduating this spring I’ve been working as a research assistant at UW in addition to teaching yoga. I hope to teach yoga full-time in the fall here in KW.

If you want to geek-out on anthropology and yoga, here is Leena’s thesis: thesisembodyingyoga.wordpress.com

Meaghan:
Wow! These two months have flown by! I can honestly say it has been ripe with learning and growth, as all of life is; it just seems there is more time to savour it, and sometimes too much time to fret over it.

That being said, the time off regular teaching is just what I needed and I am also happy to get back to work, and to see all of you again!

I will keep this brief for now.

Studying with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen at Kripalu was beyond amazing, and I am excited to see how my inspired practice will influence my teaching.

I am also proud to announce that we have a new batch of awesome yoga teachers newly graduated from our YTT course. I am proud of and inspired by the hard work and dedication, and willingness of everyone who participated. I am thankful to Kristin and Hart as well, to have had this opportunity and this challenge to grow as a teacher with them.

Lindsay is off for her month long Yoga and Meditation retreat, so exciting! I will be teaching this Monday, June 28th, 5:45 pm and Thursday July 1st, 12 and 1pm and then back on regular teaching the first week of July.

Hugs and Nameste to You,
Meaghan and the QSY staff.
