For those New to Yoga, and for those who have been away for a while. (For those who are not new, spread the good word, we appreciate it so much!) This class is ideal if you have been away due to injury, or have found the level one too challenging. This class will always stay at a beginner's pace. We will take the time to modify, and explore healing for injuries and physical limitations.
Cost: $5 trial and then regular pass prices apply

2) Schedule Changes and some Introductions to New Teachers!
We have tweaked the schedule to try to better suit the needs of our community. Some highlights to check out:

Sunday Flow class is now at 4pm.
Wednesday Flow class is now at 5:45pm.
Tuesdays Meditation Drop-in class is now at 5:30pm
New Community Class with Leena, Sundays 1pm
The monthly restorative workshops will now be from 5:30-7:30pm

We are going to postpone the Yoga and Potluck plan we had originally proposed, due to the busyness of March Break. Stay tuned for a new date (likely late April or early May).

We are also expanding the QSY family of teachers!

Leena Miller is joining us on Sundays at 1pm for an Anusara inspired, open level Community Class. Her teaching is caring, alignment focused, and she offers great cues and fun ways to get into classical poses. Meaghan has been in conversation with Leena for a while, and after attending her wonderful class was sure she would be a great addition to the studio. Please try her class on Sundays, for the cost of a donation, and let us know what you think! To learn more about Leena, please see her website at http://www.ananda-bliss.com/

Nancy Schaeffer will be joining us to teach Meditation. She will be taking over the Meditation Drop-in on Tuesdays, starting in April. Nancy has a long and wonderful history with Yoga and Meditation. She is also the author of The Body Means Well.

3) Partner Yoga is Back!
Friday March 6th, 7:30-9:30pm. Join us for an evening of fun, laughter, stretching and connecting, as Anna-Marie and Kunga lead you through classical Yoga poses that have been modified to include two bodies!
Cost: $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Please call or email to register so we have an idea of numbers.

4) Yoga for Runners and Triathletes with Tyandra
This class fills quickly, so please contact us to register and ensure your space. Specifically for those who run, ride and swim, please see the website for more info on the course and Tyandra's expertise in this area.
Mondays 6:15-7:30pm, starts March 9th. Cost: 8 weeks for $120

5) Home Practice Workshop with Meaghan
This workshop will help you develop and maintain a personal yoga practice that you can do regularly in your home. Topics covered will include: overcoming obstacles to your yoga practice; how to sequence a practice; how to create a practice that works for your life.
Saturday March 28th, 2-5pm. Cost: $40 in advance, $45 at the door.

6) Restorative Yoga with Brad
The focus of this month's workshop is the Immune System. Please register early to reserve your space.
Sunday March 29th, 5:30-7:30pm. Cost: $25

7) Yoga Abs with Anna-Marie
Stabilizing the muscles of the abdomen has a positive impact on the spine, helps prevent back pain, and reduces shoulder strain. Learning to move from a stable core encourages a deep connection with the body. This is a two hour class open to all levels, and will end with a restorative savasana. "The trunk not only houses the bulk of the organs, but also provides a muscular fulcrum around which movement occurs. Simply put, the belly is our core." Judith Lasater, Ph.D, P.D.
Sunday April 4th, 1:30-3:30pm. Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

8) Hart Lazer Returns in April!
Due to bad weather in Winnipeg, Hart was not able to join us in February. Which is actually good news for those of you who were not able to do it in February! The new dates are: April 14th-16th, 5:30-7:30pm. The cost is still $126. The topic is still Backbends, Inversions and Deep Silence!  This a wonderful opportunity to deepen your practice, and to learn from our teachers' teacher.

9) Yogis in the Community
On February 28th, many of you joined us for a fun day of yoga at Yoga for Hope. Kunga, Brad and Meaghan represented the studio. Despite how nervous they were leading the large group and teaching on stage, all received really sweet feedback about their classes and enjoyed meeting yogis from the K-W area. We will let you know how much money was raised for Hope Spring Cancer Support Centre.

Kunga is off for an ocean bound adventure this summer!  He will wrap up teaching at the end of March and return to us in September. If you see Kunga in the next month, give him a hug goodbye. In his own words: "I will be joining a Qi Gong Teacher and Meditation teacher on a 38 foot sailboat off the coast of California for a challenging adventure. We will have the opportunity to do some real meditation, prayer, reading, contemplation, writing and playing on my guitar (all three of us are bringing guitars). I want to learn to play guitar along with some of my favorite chants. This is all assuming i am not seasick the whole way of course. After we arrive at the islands there will be a festival starting that will last a month. Partay! Apparently the native people are really into music, so i hope to be able to play a song or two for them by then. We will be visiting different ports and then deciding whether to go to Hawaii or Tahiti to finish the trip. Then I will fly back from there, hopefully a little wiser, and a little more inspired in my spiritual practice, but, no pressure. Whatever happens i'm just happy to have such wonderful opportunity to try something new that I always wanted to do."

This is the news here at QSY! If you have not joined our Facebook group or Google Group, please do!  It will help us greatly in getting this newsletter to you and keeping you updated on events.
