------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. FROSH ELECTIONS: Sept. 26th

On Monday September 26th at 7pm (location TBA), make sure to come vote for your Hillel Frosh Reps! This is a frosh only event, so if you would like a say on who represents you this year, this is an event you don't want to miss.

***Clarification: there will be TWO Frosh reps, one elected on Monday, and another appointed (applications due Tuesday and details can be found below). If, for any reason, you cannot attend the elections but you would still like to run, feel free to e-mail your speech to queens...@queenshillel.com

2. FROSH REP AND GRAD REP APPLICATIONS: Sept. 27th

Hillel is looking for frosh and grad representatives for this year! For those frosh and grad students who want to get involved in Hillel, here's your opportunity! Applications (attached) are due September 27th, and you must be a member of Queen's Hillel to apply.

3. TZEDEK UPDATE

Hillel Tzedek (philanthropy/social justice) Committee is having its first initiative. We will be volunteering at a local soup kitchen called Martha's Table (http://www.marthastable.ca/). The soup kitchen is located  at 629 Princess St. just a short walk from campus at Princess and Nelson.  We will be arranging dates where we go in as a group to help prepare and serve meals to those less fortunate in our community. It's a lot of fun and a great way to give back.

In order to volunteer, we must attend a short 25 minute training session. The first one is this Wednesday (Sept. 28) at 2:30pm. After you attend this session you will be able to volunteer to help prepare and serve meals for the rest of the year with our group. If you wish to attend, please e-mail us ASAP at hillel...@gmail.com

If you can't attend, but would like to get involved:

Please send us an email and we will try to arrange an alternative session. You can also join our facebook group to stay up to date on our latest initiatives and how to get involved (Link: http://www.facebook.com/groups/268126446541140/).

4. ROSH HASHANAH DINNER: Sept. 28th @ Hillel House

This year, as Rosh Hashannah falls on Thursday and Friday, everyone is welcome to come to the Hillel House after Shul for the FIRST night on Wednesday September 28th. What better way to celebrate the Jewish New Year away from home than with Hillel?!

(***There was some previous confusion, so just to confirm it is on WEDNESDAY***)

5. HIGH HOLIDAY BABYSITTING

Know anyone in town for the High Holidays interested in looking after children ages 5 and under, or ages 5-10? It will take place at the Shul on September 29th and 30th, as well as October 7th for Kol Nidre services from 6-8pm and October 8th during the day. Rate of pay is $12/hour. Any help would be much appreciated!

6. BIG BUDDY LITTLE BUDDY PROGRAM

Interested in being part of a big buddy little buddy program where lower years are paired with upper year Hillel members? Email Queen's Hillel at queens...@queenshillel.com with your name and faculty to get involved!

For those of you who missed or couldn't make last Wednesday's orientation session, there will be an alternative session this Monday, Oct. 3rd at 4:30pm. If you would like to walk over together, Alena will be meeting people outside of the front doors of Stauffer at 4:10pm and will be leaving by 4:15pm sharp. Alternatively, you can meet everyone at the orientation session at Martha's Table at 629 Princess St. Again, you must attend an orientation session in order to volunteer and it is only about 25 minutes long. If you haven't already, please let us know if you will be attending this orientation session by emailing hillel...@gmail.com

Our first volunteer outing will (tentatively) be on Tuesday, October 11th! We are extremely excited and in the process of arranging all the details. We hope to have many other dates in the future, as well. More details to come!
