The second annual Walnut Ride will take place October 22nd and 23rd. It was just me and Jim Naber last year. We will meet in the Lunken terminal parking lot (across the street from the terminal) at 8:45 a.m., leaving at 9:00 a.m. on the 22nd. You can park there overnight but make sure you have NO valuables in your car. I am hoping that the new Beechmont Levee bike bridge will be complete at this time. I will post an alternative start location if bridge is not completed. It will be bike path all the way! Approximately 120 miles each way, basically flat.
In order to ride you MUST have a "buddy" that will ride with you. The group is not obliged to stop for any issues (flats, rest stops, etc.) but you and your "buddy" must stay together at all times. I strongly suggest bringing at least 2 spare tubes as the Walnuts can be fierce.
There are numerous places to get snacks along the way so no need to carry lots of aid. Two bottles and some pocket snacks are probably sufficient. I rode with a small backpack and Jim used a fancy new bike pack for his overnight gear.
I have a room at the German Village Inn, it is clean and reasonably priced ($85)

We will meet for dinner at Plank's Bier Garten at 6:00 p.m. for a group dinner.
We will depart from the German Village Inn at 9:00 a.m. on the 23rd for the return trip.
Please respond to this note if you are thinking about joining us. We will cancel only if it looks like sustained rain on either of the two days. Comments and improvements to this plan are welcome.
Note that this is NOT a QCW sponsored event! You are participating at your own risk.
