First of all let us start with people who did not play Stranger of Sword City at all before - if you have played Saviors of Sapphire Wings then this game is basically a more complex version of it. If you didn't play SoSW yet - then I recommend you start with that game as a lot of mechanics are similar but SoSW is easier to get into since it's more simplified. Playing SoSW will be enough for you to decide if you want to play stranger of sword city or not.
About the story: Your flight crashes after passing through a mysterious portal. As the sole survivor, you awaken to an unfamiliar land lit by stars you've never seen. This land is Escario, the city of swords.
"One of the family must indeed have had hard times, for shehad a family of no less than five dependent on her exertions, and on the superfluities of the sentries' mess. With a sagacityalmost more than canine, the poor gaunt creature had scarcelyseen our tents pitched before she came over with all her litterand deposited them in front of our tent. At once she scannedthe features of every member of the encampment, and introducedherself to our notice. During the week of our stay, she neverquitted her post, or attempted any depredation on our kitchen-tent,which might have led to her banishment. Night and dayshe proved a faithful and vigilant sentry, permitting no stranger, human or canine, European or Oriental, to approach the tentswithout permission, but keeping on the most familiar terms withourselves and our servants.
