Merci,

Maria

I can’t do this alone. Sharing this video now can be the first step in helping to protect the people and places you love.

I believe every Canadian deserves the right to live in a healthy environment.

That's why I just joined the Blue Dot campaign.

By joining the campaign I am standing with Canadians across our country to recognize our citizens’ right to a healthy environment.

History shows that the greatest changes start with simple acts of local leadership.

This right includes

• breathing clean air, drinking clean water, consuming safe food

accessing  nature

• knowing about pollutants released into the local environment

• and participating in government decisions that will affect the environment.
I can’t do this alone. Sharing this video now can be the first step in helping to protect the people and places you love.

Join the movement to recognize every Canadian's right to live in a healthy environment.

Join me in my most important effort ever

I’m a grandfather and an elder. I’ve seen a lot of changes in my lifetime. Some have been for the better. But others pose threats to our health and well-being, and that of our children and grandchildren.

That’s why I’m launching the most important effort of my life — to protect our right to a healthy environment. But I can’t do this alone, so I’m asking all Canadians to take part.

tourimage

For most of human existence, people understood that we are deeply embedded in nature and entirely dependent on it for our survival. We need fresh air, clean water and healthy food. But we’re seeing more and more of our beautiful Canadian landscape marred by industrial toxins, leaving local communities to suffer.

That’s why I need you to help launch the tour and spread the word by sharing this message.

This video is about making a fundamental shift in the way we view our world.

The shift is this: To protect our future, we must understand that everything on this small blue planet is interconnected and interdependent. That’s what the Blue Dot Tour and the right to a healthy environment are all about.

My dream is for Canada to be a country where governments at every level recognize this fundamental right.

I can’t do this alone. Sharing this video now can be the first step in helping to protect the people and places you love.

The good news is that incredible change has happened before and can happen again, when ordinary people take extraordinary action.

For the next few weeks — starting tonight in St. John’s — I’ll be on the road talking to Canadians. I’ll be joined by incredible musicians, committed community groups, thoughtful leaders and — I hope — you.

You can buy a ticket to an evening event near you. You can also join me at free community events, such as a youth scavenger hunt or a harbour celebration.

And please, join more than 39,000 Canadians who have already signed the petition to support the right to a healthy environment.

Ensuring that future generations have their right to live in a healthy environment recognized is the most important work I’ve ever done. Will you join me?

Please share the video widely — and come take part in the Blue Dot movement.

I’ll see you there.

Sincerely,

David Suzuki
