I started up a HBase cluster in Qubole which was easy and quick. Now I need to connect my local OpenTSDB to the hbase cluster. OpenTSDB just need to know the HBase cluster ZK quorum IP and port to make the connection. However, the quorum IP is ec2 private IP address, how can I get around it?
Thanks.
Hong

Hello Hyang.

Even though the quorum IP is the ec2 private address, external clients can connect by providing the external dns of the master. Please make sure the security group has all the ports opened necessary.

Thank you Sriram. I am using the HBase Beta free trial account and the user is in system-admin group. However, I can't find the option in Qubole 'Manage Groups' for setting inbound/outbound IP filter.

Hi Hong Yang,

We would suggest passing your own AWS creds for compute (and storage)  in Control Panel > Account settings to get complete control over the cluster.

Please let us know any concerns doing this.

Venkat
